I picked up some '03 XT cranks and BB for ~$120.00. Not a bad deal. If you want a real good for single speed cranks, pick up a set of Sugino XDs and some square tapers and ride like hell. That set up will be lighter than any other you find...

These are pretty nice lookin' black cranks, 32tooth ring, outboard bearings...
Take the rock ring off and save some weight...
I just saw a set at WebCyclery and they are sweet.

I've seen black hubs from WI. Wonder why they won't do cranks? Send it off to Brett at Phil, I'm sure he could have something done for you. They just did a run a sweet navy blue hubs.

White Industries has made black before...in fact the Path has a set in black in stock..but they're 180mm...doh!
RF Duece cranks come in black... held 'em today....
Old XTR's are at least kinda charcoal which in low light could potenially be considered black....

They are billed as XC or DH really beefy, pretty and black, maybe a bit too heavy? Uses octalink BB. I have a brand new set with chainring and bash gaurd I can make you a sweet deal on them. They are not on the Vulture, only because they are 175mm. PM me if you are interested.

Otherwise, I think you may want to check out a set of the new stylo SS with the outboard bearings. I know that you know you can never go wrong with XT, except they are not black.

I like the FSA's but it seems they are hard to get parts for....i'll investigate...

If it must be black and light no question some FSA carbon cranks are the way to go. My wife just got some outboard bearing road versions and they are very nice.

I went through 3 sets of bearings on my Dues cranks in about a month, the shell was dimensioned, square and faced to perfection every time the shop called race face they sent a new set of bearings out for free with no hassle. Seams like RF would put up a fight if they didn’t know some sort of Issue exist with their equipment.

The old XTR’s are ok but seam to have a soft spline area that wears out over time and you either have to use a spiderless system (I tried them both and neither lasted very long) or an aftermarket spider that may or may not fit very well.

Aftermarket anno would probably void any warranty otherwise the ENO would be my top choice (Long live square tapers)

Personally I hate black cranks because I rub and beat on my cranks so hard the black gets worn off and the cranks look like poo in no time. Silver square taper turbines are my all time favorite MTB cranks.
