Weightweenies experts,

I'd like to drop some weight on my chainring bolts.
Right now, I have Race Face steel (76g).
The FSA Torx alloy 15pc set is 17g.
BUT do alloy bolt have a place on chainrings?
A friend of mine broke 2 alloy chainring bolts on his SS crank at Sea Otter '02 and DNF'd.
I don't like to DNF...
