View Full Version : What happened to Wachusett Cycle?
dipstik 03-05-2004, 07:50 PM They seemed to have completley shut down. There store was in West Boylston on Rt. 12, right next to Subway. I drove by last friday and they had an open sign, and then when I drove by two days later, the place was completley empty, there was no sign on the door that said they had moved or anything, the place was just barron. Anyone know what happened? Did they move or go out of buisness or what?

They were good guys, it's a major bummer that they aren't there anymore. I semi knew the owner and I was really looking to get a new bike this year, and I was 99% sure I would buy it from him. I have a suspision that they might have moved though, because they moved about 2 years ago. (about 2 miles up the road)
Anyway, I'll stop by subway and the shops next to where the bike shop used to be and see if anybody knows what's up.

Any word?
dipstik 03-12-2004, 04:38 PM Well I went into the Subway that was next to where the shop used to be and asked the kid working there. He told me he came into work one day and they were moving stuff around inside and had a bunch of bikes out in the back but he thought they were just remodeling. He said he came in the next day and everything was gone. Very strange that they would move out without letting anyone know. So who knows what happened, but I live pretty close to the shop so if I find out anything new I'll let you know.

did he mention anything about the shop when you talked to him?
icycle 04-19-2004, 08:23 PM did he mention anything about the shop when you talked to him?
Did anyone ever contact the shop owner?
I called their old number and got a phone co. recording saying it was changed to 978-790-8288, which I called and got another phone co. recording saying the [voice] mailbox was full.
Barring this shop, what other good shops have people used in the worcester north area? Fritz's?
thanks!
Brett

Keep driving a little to Bicycle Alley. They're pretty good. Or the other way to Gearworks in Leominster.

Bicycle Alley is a pretty good store. They have quite a bit of selection in terms of bikes, and they also have a lot of other stuff like biking clothes, shoes, camelbak's etc. I would definitely check it out if you haven't already.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the alley. It's the only bike shop I've done much business with in the city. It's out of my way though, as is gearworks.
ah well
dipstik 05-02-2004, 08:05 PM Well, I have the answer!!
I went to Leominster SF on Saturday morning for my first time and I was on some fire road looking for the trails when I decided to pull over and take a quick break. All of sudden these two guys come up and over the hill and give me the standard wave, when suddenly they stopped. Allen recognized me because I used to work at the pizza shop next to their old shop, and Allen and his buddy Don were always over there for lunch. I was pretty out of breath and I think a little dehydrated so I said a bunch of stupid stuff and made an ass of my self. ex: Allen "it's a great day eh?" me: "oh yeah?" oh well, the point is that I still got to ask him what happened to his shop. He said that the landlord doubled the rent and gave him 3 days to pay it. He couldn't come up with it, and didn't want to deal with it in the future, so he packed up his stuff and left. Allen said the guy pretty much f'ed him over. He said that now he just has a bunch of bikes and stuff sitting in his garage and he is trying to unload it. He left it at that, and then pointed me in the direction of some sweet single track. It's a pity that happened, and he didn't mention anything about reopening a shop, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did.
