Cloxxki 04-13-2005, 08:51 AM RACER LESLIE WILLIAMS TO RACE A NINER ONE 9
AT THE SEA OTTER CLASSIC
Los Angeles, CA Niner bikes announced today that expert Racer Leslie
Williams will be racing the Niner One 9 at the Sea Otter Classic in the Pro
Womens Single Speed event due to kick off in Monterey, CA on Sunday, April
17, 2005 at 1:35pm.
Leslie, a Costa Mesa, California based racer, has been climbing up the
podium of the California race series for the last couple of years. In 2004,
she was the first female single speed rider ever to finish the Warriors
Society Vision quest. In 2005, she returned to set a new single speed
record in the same event. Leslie is currently ranked #1 in the women's
expert class and for the 2005 season she will be concentrating on Single
Speed and Endurance racing (and Single Speed Endurance Racing). Niner bikes
is proud to have Leslie aboard the One 9, Niner's first frame, a
SingleSpeedSpecific 29" wheel mountain bike. Niner is dedicated to the 29"
wheel movement and is excited about the opportunity to have Leslie throw a
leg over the One 9 for the Sea Otter Classic. Another way Niner Bikes is
"keeping the secret alive".
If you're attending The Sea Otter Classic this year, watch for Leslie aboard
the Niner One 9, and cheer her on. For more information on Niner, visit our

Work Stands is graciously hosting us as a guest at their booth.

She puts her husband to shame Sorry P______e! ;)
Cloxxki 04-13-2005, 09:04 AM I thought he was being quite enthousiastic about a super lightweight production frame for the clyde he is, now we know why...
The orange Niner won't be at the Ultimate booth for all of Sea Otter, apparently :-)
Nice way to give a 29"er a go for once, before going custom, hehe...

If your going to get spanked by your wife thats the way to go.

Padre 04-13-2005, 09:31 AM My enthusiasm is not simply vicarious.
I spun that little Niner up one of the local climbs...forcing my wife to ride the Vulture for a while... There was no noticable flex at the BB at all...very stiff....and very light....
I'm pretty impressed by that fact...that and the geometry is pretty spot on, it seems...at least for her...right of the bat, she "connected" with the frame and was carrying more speed through sections than she does on any other bike...
~martini~ 04-13-2005, 10:50 AM Great, she's gonna be even harder to catch now. Not that I've ever, or will ever have the chance of chasing....unless I move to Socal that is... great news Padre, for both of ya. Are you up for a 'race' bike now too?

No race bike for me...
But I am in the market for a sub 27lbs SS...perhaps Ti?
OneGearGuy 04-13-2005, 11:15 AM That is just fantastic news, all the way around.
Sure do wish I could attend the Otter this year...
Looking forward to all the reports and pics from the race weekend. Go two-niners!!

Well said. I echo all those sentiments.
Padre 04-13-2005, 03:58 PM Update:
Just picked up the Niner that 1x1girl will be riding this wknd at that Path Bike Shop. They were getting her wheels in ship-shape for the race.
Let me tell you fella's that the Niner is a sleek machine ready for action...
CPATCRASH 04-13-2005, 04:14 PM Humm? Do I see a sub 26 pound Niner in Padre's future? Ti would certainly last longer though.

You just might... it'll likely be ti...as I need custom sizing....
CPATCRASH 04-13-2005, 09:10 PM I have a Seven and a Dean. For the money I think the Dean rides great ans it's stiff as he**.
Zonic Man 04-13-2005, 10:17 PM Where was she last year when suzy was racing?
Padre 04-14-2005, 08:28 AM Where was she last year when suzy was racing?
On the course!
She raced Sport so she wouldn't have to race at 2pm or whatever it was.
PinsNeedles 04-14-2005, 09:36 AM This is great news Padre and 1x1 !
I really like the look of the Niner, it should make Leslie faster than ever...
Are they hooking her up with a Jersey ? I think this is the best way for a new company to make it's mark and test their new gear...
I can't make it to the Otter with my team this year, I have to work :(
But I am really happy to see 29er's and SS's stepping up and showing people how "unconventional" riders and bikes are here to revitalize the sport...
Good luck, have fun and don't forget to show RC your ride after you win your class ;)
