I am thinking about purchasing an 05 Alpine 550. I was wondering if anyone has purchased on and what feedback they have on these hardtails?

You'll find them under 2004 Cross Country Hardtails. They get excellent reviews.

And I've got to say that I'm very happy with it. Of course, the bike I was riding before that about 12 years old, fully rigid with many, many miles, but....

Seriously, for the money you can't go wrong. The frame, fork and drivetrain can't be beat at this price point. The disc brakes provide great, reliable stopping power. Much better climber than my old bike, and feels very agile even if it weighs around 30 lbs. The only issues I've had are the saddle and the disc brakes can be difficult to adjust. The issues with the disc brakes could be due to my inexperience with them. I replaced the saddle as my old one was much more comfortable (WTB Speed V).

Bottom line: the 550 is a great hardtail for the money and tons of fun to ride.... :D

I got a 450 last year. Rather happy with it. Came precisely tuned, just put in the wheels, handlebars, started riding next day.
Small problem now with what seems to be bottom bracked.
After exchanging a few emails with Ibex, got the exact tools and replacement part in case the bracket is shot. Will be taking it apart on Thursday.
Overall, Great bike for excellent money, and, so far, very friendly and helpful customer support.

I just bought a Alpine 550 the bike appears to be in good condition. However, The rim was already bent when I took it out of the box. That was a little downer!! Other than that the components seem to be in good shape and well tuned.
