March 6, 8:15 to 11:00 a.m.
Trailbuilding after lunch 'til 4:30 p.m.

Don't know how many of you have been tracking, or are even aware of, the Black Canyon Trail, but it's a very ambitious project with an excellent start. So go learn more about it this Saturday morning.

More questions? Contact Annie McVay, Trails Coordinator for Arizona State Parks at (602) 542-7116, or email her at amcvay@pr.state.az.us.

And of course there's also the 25 Hours of Caffeine up in Sedona on Saturday. Check in with the Bean.

And let's not forget Yoga for Mountain Bikers at Chi Yoga, 1:30 - 3:30. I'll probably hit the BCT thing in the a.m. and the yoga class in the p.m. Alas, no semi-legal endurance race for me this time around. :-(

Is there an opportunity to build the trail "creatively" and do you know anyone that is going?

Yeah, I know several people who should be there. And the ringleader -- IMBA's Joey Klein -- is a very strong rider who appreciates the freeride thing. He's actively scouting out rocky play areas which will be integrated into the trail.

The trail itself is so far quite fun, really rolly, kind of climby, not too technical but potentially quite fast. I'd say it's harder than Desert Classic, easier than Javelina. Boy Scouts did the first bit of work and the effed up some switchbacks, which we're rerouting as we speak.

Oh...and BCT is scheduled to go all the way up to Mayer. FYI. ;-)

Yeah, I dont know yet if I'd be able to do it, but possibly. Is the trail relatively all-uphill one way or does it have a lot of ups and downs? How long are they looking at making the trail? Will the trail work be a hike-out type thing? I have a small shovel :D

Desert Classic...most of it....is a joke

It's purely a day of vaginas for me. :D No really, Vagina Monologues at ASU, and some of my close friends are performing. I know, vaginas vs bikes, should be a poll topic.

I do want to work on the trail, however, so Paully B, keep me posted, if ya will!

So that's just up the road from me, right? I don't know if I can show up, got company coming into town, but if there are future trail work days, keep posting 'em here.

but duty calls. I will be spending Saturday on my bike at the Cubs Spring Training game in Mesa. Its part of work, patrolling for falls, heat illness, etc. Notthing really exciting but at least I will be on my bike, getting paid, and watching a game. I would love to work on the trail, especially if the manager appreciates the tech. :) Personally I hate dirt sidewalks (death to sanitizers!!) Paul, please keep us informed on any other trailbuilding days. If I have some advanced notice I can trade a shift or take some time out to help out if it is not one of my days off.
