My 2003 Diamondback Apex came with this fork:
Marzocchi EXR Comp Front Suspension Fork w/ 100mm Travel
I find it to be way too stiff for me. I'm 125 pounds.
I have the screws loosened as far as they can go (any looser and they'd fall out), and I still only use barely 50mm of travel even on drops. I learned that Marzocchi makes different sets of coils, hard, med, soft and I have the medium set on my bike now. However, Marzocchi made this fork specifically for DB, and I guess this type of fork does not have replacement parts.
Any suggestions on how to loosen it up without buying a new fork? I'm looking for a short term solution. Someone else mentioned taking out one of the springs and adjusting the other accordingly? Anyone try this with a coil fork?

Your Marzocchi EXR Comp fork was an OEM fork but was not specific to Diamondback, many brands speced this fork in 2003. The Soft springs are what you need, they are rated for 120 -155 LB riders. If you have a good local shop they should be able to order the spring kits for under $ 45 or so. Just make sure they know the year and model of the fork. If you don't have any luck then just call Marzocchi and they can point you in the right direction.

I did go to my LBS. We placed an order for that softer spring set. Two weeks after, he learned from the manufacturer or supplier that this OEM fork does not have any replacment parts.
I'll give Marzocchi a call and see if they have suggestions.
Later...
OK the guy said there is a softer spring set out there, but they are far and few between and getting a set would be tricky. But he did suggest taking out one spring from either side. This fork is known to be on the stiff side. So I'll try that, it's free!

Well, my husband took out one spring for me. It is definitely more cush I am using 60-70mm of my 100mm fork on xc rides, but not too cush that I bob when I pedal or anything. I rode it 3x so far, and I do like it. Yeah!
