How about a thread for the AZ forum which includes a brief description as well as a few pics of our favorite trails in the state.

Perhaps we can throw in a few shots of signature stunts or sections of the trails such as the "waterfall" sections of National or Milagrosa or the check dams of 6 Shooter.

I think it would be benificial for AZ riders as well as out of state riders who are looking for new trails to try in Arizona to get an idea of what the trails actually look like.

I don't have any pics, but Six Shooter/Kellner/Ice House is on my top 5 list of fave rides. super long downhill, with lots of steep bits, and check dam trail is a hoot. Added bonus is great mexican food for afterwards.

So - when does it get warm enough to hit Globe again?

Word.

Fav trails here;

Yankee Doodle...2000ft descent, but it's a ***** to get out that far though, and right now there's plenty of snow covering it.

Trail 62 to 299 to 297 to 305. Fun shorter ride is to come down 7 mile gulch, but it's not for XCers cause it'll melt yer pads.

Fav in Phoenix;

Geronimo is the best mix of high speed fun and technical I think.

Fav in Globe;

Kellner Canyon, we only did 2 rides down and I wasn't a big fan of the first one, but kellner was fun as heck.

Fav in Flag;

Sunset trail to upper old to gnarly back on schultz...I am still working on flag trails to see what is my fav, but there are a LOT of real fun, bermed trails up there.

Fav in Sedona;

Um....I don't really have one in particular, and I am not a real big fan of sedona.

Wood Canyon is just southwest of the mining town of Superior. It offers some jeep road, wooded singletrack, and some bare rock free riding. There is some other riding in the area such as the Telegraph Canyon jeep road and a burly portion of the Arizona Trail on the west side of Picket Post Butte. I would say this area is intermediate to advanced, depending on how you ride. Its probably best ridden in Spring and Fall and makes for a good out and back ride or hike with some exploratory options.

We did a ride in Easter -- mid-April, for all you non-Xians or the childless -- last year and there was (rideable) snow down in Ice House Canyon. And it was extremely reasonable down on Check Dam, whereas it was kinda too hot down there during the last big weekend event.

I'm thinking a multi-day camping blowout weekend is in order ASAP. Trailers, shuttle drivers, the works. I need to get the fuuck out of town in the worst way.

Hm. Six weeks. Probably time to start planning. Y'all can e me if you want to be kept updated.

Pics of my wife Amy on the Rainbow Rim Trail on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. A sweet 18 mile long singletrack that meanders along the rim and then into the forest. Not a technical ride but a must do ride/camp trip! :cool:
