Any help appreciated... airwreck 03-26-2005, 04:49 PM If you're thinking road biking, might as well take the mtb and ride it on the limited roads, and explore. Have you checked all the resources? bikehawaii.com hawaiitrails.org google etc. Call Molokai Bicycle 800-709-2453 or 808-553-3931 haven't been over since '03 and there has been management changes at the ranch, again, the ranch being Molokai Ranch, home of an extensive mtb trail network. I would search, call, etc. and see what's up. When we were there last most of the trails were overgrown with tall grass. If they don't get ridden they have to use the weedeater, and they weren't getting enough riders to justify it. These photos were from July, all on the ranch. They also have a higher lusher area off the main ranch property were you can ride. If it rains, it's horrible mud, but by april it should be dry weather and we've had some rain so it should be greener, but overgrown at the same time. If you $tay at the ranch, they (hopefully still) shuttle you (free) so you don't have to climb. Let us know what you find out. Sorry I haven't heard anything from over there, mtb related, in a long time. Rockin 03-29-2005, 02:00 PM We will be on the west end. I forget the actual name of the place, but not at Molokai Ranch. $300+ per night is too much for me. Rockin 05-02-2005, 09:30 AM Had a less than stellar experience at Molokai Ranch. The trails have not been maintained and had very long sections with grass that was more than waist high. If i wanted to ride without seeing the trail I would have worn a blind fold. One trail I stated out on because it was recommended by the guy in the bike shop and after I got 200 ft into the trail it completely disappeared into the grass and I had to turn around. The potential is there, but I would not waste my time riding there until management pulls their heads out. |
