View Full Version : Ride West Hartford, CT reservior recently?
kfcninja 03-18-2005, 12:27 PM Anyone ride West Hartford Resv. lately? Looking to ride there this weekend and was just wondering what the trails are like? I know it usually gets pretty muddy in there after rains, any trails to avoid? Muchos Gracias...
Tachymetres 03-18-2005, 05:36 PM My guess is we're 2-3 weeks from melting in the woods. You'll be limited to just the paved roads unless you want to ride on the packed snow and ice.

I agree. I rode there about four weeks ago (with studded tires) when the trails were ice and snow covered . If you're going to try it, I'd recommend you get out there very early before it gets above freezing and things get really soft.
kfcninja 03-21-2005, 06:33 AM Thanks for the info. I agree with soft snow - not the most fun thing to ride when you gotta pedal even on downhills just to get rolling. Not as fun as singletracks but ended up riding on the road instead on the Saturday.
Matt22 04-05-2005, 07:48 AM Any info on trail conditions at the res? Fireroads, Fence line, Blue dot? Thanks for any and all info!!
otis24 04-06-2005, 07:51 PM I went for a run there about a week ago, it's still muddy. I lived a few miles from the res for about 8 years, I just moved away a little while ago. It's been my experience that it stays muddy until the end of may, after that it's isolated muddy spots until the end of june or so.
auber 04-08-2005, 07:15 AM I rode the Res. on Wed, and it wasn't too bad. Went up to the power lines from the route 4 parking lot, and that was pretty much dry. The only really muddy parts were on the backside near the big houses, and down by the fields. Although who knows what the rain last night did.
Red Bull 04-24-2005, 07:39 AM I live right on the fencline, im sure you all know our dog, a little gray dog who runs the lenght of our yard barking at riders? Havent gotten out yet due to a few mechanical problems at my DJ's...
otis24 04-24-2005, 07:54 AM I know that dog. What's his/her name?

rideit 06-07-2005, 05:18 PM And I know that dog! (My wife's family live right next to the res). So, If I am ever back there to ride, should I open the gate, take him for a ride, and leave a note? :) It sounds like that is what he wants...
