Testing 02Slayer 03-17-2005, 11:30 AM Terror... Jisch - I ought to just put my buddy Travis in touch with you directly. He is very much into music as well, has several nice guitars, including an acoustic bass that is really fun to jam on. He is also a woodworker, and has finished off the upstairs of his garage, helped his brother recondition a house as an investment project, and built a custom entertainment center for his TV, videos, etc. He and I have talked about building an instument one of these days, as my boss built a sweet electric guitar a few years ago. Have you been out this week? I'm going out tomorrow, but these last two weeks have been spent more on backcountry and resort skiing for me as opposed to biking. Trying to cash in before its all over. I don't want to impose, but would you be willing to give a firsthand demo of your bass? Erik Jisch 03-17-2005, 12:29 PM Jisch - I ought to just put my buddy Travis in touch with you directly. Keep an eye out here and you'll see when I'm done. This is my third instrument, I made a five string fretted and a guitar, this one is a five string fretless with cheater lines. I'm going to try riding on Sunday AM. I went for a hike today and it was definitely rideable, though pretty much all snow covered. My wife would rather hike with snow on the ground. John Jisch 03-17-2005, 12:31 PM progress today... GCM 03-18-2005, 04:35 AM That thumper's looking awsome. Can't wait to see the finished work of art. Now I know you get out in just about any and all conditions but right now the trails are not that great - I road last sunday and the snow was just too soft and slippery. Even the slightest uphill was impossible and downhills were quite the ride-em-slide-em adventure. I ended up bailing off the trails and doing a short road ride. Looks like most of the snow has melted now but I don't think I'll have time to get out this weekend - taking wifey for a night out away from the kiddies for her B-day. keep the pics of the stick coming! Jisch 03-18-2005, 01:02 PM The fun is now... Dan'ger 03-18-2005, 01:07 PM The fun is now... That is so cool! Jisch 03-19-2005, 01:29 PM more progress today (minimal). 02Slayer 03-19-2005, 04:52 PM Looks like it's coming along great. We'll be down for a bike campfire jam... Jisch 03-26-2005, 05:38 AM Making an anigre sandwich Jisch 03-27-2005, 01:13 PM glued up and out of the clamps Jisch 03-28-2005, 07:00 PM workshop tonight Jisch 04-01-2005, 01:52 PM More from a couple of days ago... Jisch 04-02-2005, 01:24 PM Next will be pickup and cavity routing... Jisch 04-09-2005, 05:36 AM I was really hoping I'd finish this before the nice weather got here. (Un)Fortunately the nice weather is here. Looks like a great weekend for riding, which will cut in to my bass building time. Oh well... Jisch 04-09-2005, 02:55 PM Getting close now. A couple more trips to the shop then a week or two of sanding. Jisch 04-17-2005, 07:29 PM Its hard to take time away from riding given the excellent weather, but I got some stuff done. Rooster 04-19-2005, 04:02 AM Real nice! Jisch 04-24-2005, 06:17 AM Freakin rain, no riding this weekend. Jisch 04-24-2005, 07:19 PM tung oil... not tongue oil. 02Slayer 04-27-2005, 06:46 PM Again, nice work. Are you planning anything local for Saturday morning? Swinging down to my friend Travis' place in Tolland and spending the night Friday, thought I'd see if we might hop out and check out some local trails if you are up to showing some people around. Swinging down to my friend Travis' place in Tolland and spending the night Friday, thought I'd see if we might hop out and check out some local trails if you are up to showing some people around. It looks like Sunday AM is going to be our ride this weekend. We haven't really settled on a spot yet. What time could you start on Sat AM? I can see if I can work something out (doubtful at this point though). John Jisch 05-01-2005, 04:56 AM Few minor things to clean up before a real photo shoot, but its largely done. Trevor! 05-01-2005, 05:54 AM Woah! That finished product is mighty fine! I'm impressed! 02Slayer 05-01-2005, 08:20 AM Few minor things to clean up before a real photo shoot, but its largely done. A beautiful instrument, and a well documented process. BTW - We were going to go for a short little ride yesterday after breakfast, and then it started raining. We were in town looking at houses anyway, have you seen anything interesting lately? Jisch 05-03-2005, 05:11 AM Ok, its done done. This will be the last post. |
