Obviously Easter has come and gone. So, did you go? If so how were the trails?
If not, can anybody else report the conditions out at the MDH? I'd like to go in a couple of weeks.

I talked to the Medora Ranger District office this morning and they report very good conditions on the trail, with a lot of dust. Things are dry. They are water testing and may have the pump handles on at the trailside campgrounds very soon. Campgrounds are otherwise open with no potable water until the pump handles are installed.
I plan on going out the weekend of April 21 and riding Bennett Creek, then on to Magpie (probably north to the Ice Caves and then south to Devil's Pass), then maybe a quick run in to ride Andrew's Creek from town on Sunday

never went at Easter...going 3rd wknd of May now(i think)...should be hotter than hell then. We're most likely setting camp at Magpie, with plans on "out and backs" North and South, this set-up has worked well in the past. We'll see if my plans to thru-ride the trail in two days(100miles-per day) works out..it should as long as it doesn't rain....

I really don't think "hotter than Hell" can really apply. :D

Au Contraire,
The hottest ride of my MTB career came on the MDH. 98 degrees and nary a tree in sight. Put in 38 miles (planned). Drained a 100oz camelback and two 28oz water bottles and was still 8 miles from the car. Major heat exhaustion and dehydration. Ended up walking the bike the last couple miles as I was too weak to balance the bike.
However, that was in August. PaddyH should be okay in May. The biggest threat is rain. Although it doesn't rain much there, it only takes a few drops to make the trail unrideable.

ya, we've been there when it's rained...a buddy and I got cabin fever so bad waiting the rain out that we tried to ride...biggest mistake of my life: rode 100ft, stop, pick mud off of bike, repeat...after about two hours we threw in the towel...the great thing is that it takes no time to dry once it stops raining...
