The next 8 weeks or so will be tough for riding in Trumbull. With the snow/rain/freezing/thawing the place gets real soft and wet until around May. Best to stay off the trails until then unless they are frozen solid (which is rare now that we are near March). There are other places in CT that are better to ride in the winter, Trumbull is a river valley so its about the last place to dry up enough to ride in the spring. That said, I'm looking into doing more TM events in there this year. I'm looking for people who are willing to commit to a Saturday AM. My schedule is flexible (at the moment) so I'll try and pick a day when its best for the most people. If anyone is interested you can reach me at sideoutmtb at gmail dot com. Doug themarsvolta55 02-22-2005, 12:37 PM ya me and a couple of my friends go in the spring/summer/fall almost every sunday around 11:30 am to 6 pm gabletech 02-25-2005, 07:17 PM cool, thanks, I rode a couple of time with the sunday group. I ride the Black SC Bullit atached to the grey lifted cherokee. Every time I went I was either hungover or I had bike problems. I might try to meet up the next time, If you can post again when the next time you go their it would be great. I havent riden in a while, calvinator 02-27-2005, 12:05 PM Hey...you friends with endo eddie and jonathan from up that way? calvinator 02-27-2005, 12:28 PM If anyone is available daytime hours on a mon, tue or wed for a ride in southwest ct, I can usually pick a rideable spot (without studs) unless immed following a storm. Im warmed up now after just coming back from a multiweek trip out west. Only read on if you're not too pissed yet! Rode a little in memphis, then on to meteor crater/winslow ariz.,Then Phoenix and all that great desert riding and camping. Then it rained so we went to MOAB slickrock is great this time of year. Porcupine rim trail was a little muddy/icy at the top but that 9 miles of downhill(true!) was worth the 3 mile uphill at the beginning. all ledges and little drops with red mud on a narrow singletrack on the side of what looks like the grand canyon. And if 5 days there wasnt enough, I convinced the driver to stop in cleveland for a special treat. Can ya guess? Hard as hell to find but after talking with many arabian storeowners, we finally made our way into Rays indoor MTB park. What a cool dude, and thanks for advancing our sport. I only wish there was even half the interest for mtb'ing here as there is in any of those other places, where you'll find OLD people with their motorhomes with specialized FSR'S attached to the bike racks and OLDER men climbing sandy hills with beachcruiser singlespeeds. I tried to create a scene here but I just dont think its in the makeup of the criticizing CT. rider. Photos of the roadtrip are forthcoming. calvinator 03-14-2005, 10:09 AM If anyone is available daytime hours on a mon, tue or wed for a ride in southwest ct, I can usually pick a rideable spot (without studs) unless immed following a storm.
