I'd say you're smoking crack if you buy it from anyone other than speedgoat!
Are you thinking of getting one? I know I'm thinking about it....
B
No, you're not smoking crack, with all the bike stuff you buy, you can't afford crack :D...
endure26 02-17-2005, 11:09 AM Speedgoat has the smok'in deal - that $799 includes delivery!!!
Bikeman has them at $1019.95 - hmmmmmm?
heenan 02-17-2005, 11:13 AM Bikeman and Webcyclery are just following the suggested retail for the Dos Niner. Speedgoat is just waaaay under, (22% off MSRP.)
MichiganClydesdale 02-17-2005, 11:21 AM The day QBP stocked them, aebike had them for 749.99, and I had seen from the salsa rep here that the MSRP would be $1060, so I immediately checked webcyclery and they were $1020 or something. I was already on the fence of selling my hardtail and getting the Dos, so I knee jerked and ordered the XL from aebike. I figured if it were a misprint, they'd correct it and I would just cancel the order. They sent me a confirmation and brown santa delivered for well under $800. The next day, aebike raised their price to over $1000. Speedgoat is the only one I've seen with it below a grand still. Sad to say, it's still in the box, but I pulled it out to check it over, and man, crazy light (XL 3.94lbs) and the graphics are so sweet. Comes with a little accessory box of v-brake studs, and a bottle of touch up paint - a very cool bonus.
Swami Scott 02-17-2005, 02:25 PM Damn, I should have jumped on that $750.99 price. AEbike really jacked that price up! I love dealing with Speedgoat so I guess the $49 difference w/free ship is probaly well worth it.
2melow 02-17-2005, 04:58 PM Act quick, when Salsa see's their pricing policy (if they have one) is all out of wack they will be calling Speedgoat for sure. Looks like they placed the "Minimum Suggested Retail" call to AE Bike already.
That is a great price...
cottonball 02-17-2005, 05:17 PM Sorry but I guess this is one of the reasons I shop on e bay and mtbr so much. I did some calling around the area I live about the 2005 GF bikes coming out. Got a $100 difference in price from dealers that are in a 50 mile area. I't just like selling cars.
ComeleR 02-17-2005, 06:45 PM speedgoat just increased the price to $1091.
Guitar Ted 02-17-2005, 09:15 PM Yeah, I was waitin' for that to happen! Actually, I saw a.e. bike right after the Dos became available, was priced at $700.00! I wonder if anybody scored one at that price!
endure26 02-18-2005, 08:44 AM Phone call something like this...
"Yeah hi....Speedgoat? This is @#$$#%$% at Salsa Cycles. Yeah. Uh. Hmmmm. We have a problem with your pricing on our Dos Uno. No - I don't understand capitalism or the concept of a free market society is. No - we need to control pricing. We don't care if you are trying to take a smaller profit and provide great bikes to riders at a lower price. We must have control. Uh-yes. Uh...Yes I do know where my spincter is - I use it to keep my ears warm. Uh - I don't think the Dos Uno will fit in my spincter -- but I'm willing to give it a try. Thanks for the advice"
2melow 02-18-2005, 09:00 AM LOL! you so funny!
VT Mike 02-18-2005, 09:36 AM speedgoat just increased the price to $1091.
Maybe someone can find the Speedgoat page with the $799 price on a Google cache, and see if Speedgoat will price-match it :)
Swami Scott 02-18-2005, 03:16 PM WTF!! I'm talking all nice about my favorite mailorder shop, Speedgoat, and they go and jack the price up to $1091!!! I suppose it was not their fault and might have been the "QBP police". I had one in my friggin "shopping cart" yesterday at $799!!!! This blows especially since I blew off my order for a customs steel hardtail. This makes me re-think Salsa and QBP!

Call Speedgoat and ask them if they'll sell you one for $799. Manufacturers can control the retailer's minimum advertised price, but they can't tell the retailer what price they actually have to sell the products for.
powersusa 02-23-2005, 05:58 PM Dos Niner and Reba w/Poploc Bundle (http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=107881) for $1249. They sell the Reba Race poploc fork alone for $475. So $1249 - $475 = $774 (effective). Note, it is my assumption that the Reba included is the Race because that is the only version they sell elsewhere on their site.
