I'm heading out to Marin County to do some riding over the President's Day weekend. I'm currently living in NYC so I'm used to cold, gray days and spinning indoors on the trainer. How are the conditions in Marin? Lots of mud? How about the temps? From watching the weather the past month or so, it doesn't look like there have been any major storms up in the Northern California region. Thanks for all your help.

You just missed a 2+ week warm spell of 55 - 60+ sunny days. It was near 70 on Saturday!

It's supposed to rain a bunch from tonight till Friday.

While you are visiting, take the time to go up north to Santa Rosa and ride Annadel State Park. It has 5600 acres vs. 5700 acres for Mt. Tam. (This is slightly deceptive because Mt. Tam is adjacent to much larger parcels of open space.) Tamarancho in Fairfax (Marin) costs $5 to ride, but the single track and switch backs make for a perfect training ride and it drains quickly.

Annadel is much more fun to ride than Tam. Lots of single track vs. fire roads. Avoid the Marsh trail and stick with South Burma/Lawndale/the Meadow/Orchard et.al.

cheers,

Kane
