I'm gonna start this here after trying it in the gen discussion forum just for the pleasure of our friend Crater Cycles..(don't worry Crater, I've added you to my ignore list). What do you all think of "The Collective" (new MTB video) showing Makawao Forest trails? As I said b4, I'm noncommittal about it but some of my riding friends are a bit pissed. If you haven't seen it, they actually show a Makawao Forest Reserve sign just before the segment. Crater flamed me by private message (text to follow) about it since I guess he doesn't have the balls to bring it out here but now he's threatening to show these guys all our trails booo hooo hooo :o .

What do you all think?

Whodaphuck would want to exploit the trails by posting a sign of "semi" secret riding spot!!!?

Pretty lame in my opinion. I havent seen the Collective but want to, Maybe sumphuck will let me borrow it??? I think its great that the pros are coming over and riding maui terrain, maybe they could give us some advice.

Us: "so how do you like riding in Maui?"
Pros "you guys have nice trails and nice terrain, when are you gonna really get it together and build some more!"

My feeling is the good riding here seems limited and I would want to protect what little we have so far, especially if its a gem and its illegal, Thats a very good argument why not to show a park entrance sign on your video. it could lead to more negative things than positive...

two rights dont make a wrong, as far as it looks like paw could have left out the "I'm gonna rub it in your face next time attitude" uncalled for definetly.

by the way the first time I read the handle 'whodaphuck' I was laughing out loud...goodone!

Aloha for all you that don't really know the Collectives footage didn't acutually have in footage of any trails more less any secret spots all the footage was filmed just like off the side of road or on property owned by friends. I'am the one who knows all the guys who where there for the entire shootng of the video so no toes where stepped on. I only ride legal trails. Can't we all just get along and show that Maui has some the most awesome riding there is? That's it it's all about the riding! So go out and ride and say Hi to the next cyclist you see on the trail or on the road don't just blow them off because their not on an Xc bike or dressed a certain way we all should live the Aloha Spirit and that's alll your going to get from me and my family and my Company. Aloha and Have a nice ride!
