and got zero hits for that bike. Wish I could give you feedback, but need more info. Where you bought it. A list of the parts. That sort of thing.

The first thing I'd do is buy some new pedals. Better ones preferably.

We got one of those bike last summer for repair and what i remember wasn't very nice.

First of all the frame is very, very, very heavy. Please take note : i use the word heavy, not tough. The fork is very large in some attempt to look like a DH fork but the feeling is horrible. finaly i remember that when sitting on the bike i immediatly notice the cramped position, uncomfortable for long distance and since the parts on the bike are on the weak side it's not intended to be a jumper.

Those bikes are only build to look like a real mountain bike but in fact if you interested in mountain biking you should either sell it (if you are lucky and can get a good price) OR ride the bike until he die and then get a good little Mountain Bike.

If you are on a tight budget dont touch those cheap dual suspension bike they are too heavy, the components are cheaper and the bushing doesnt last ( then the back end of your bike have a lot of play and if you want to replace them you have to spend more money ). Anyway those suspension system are so bad they doesnt give you more control, comfort or any kind of advantage.

instead consider someting like a giant boulder. Good frame, good geometry, good components and lightweight.

With a bike like this you will enjoy mountain biking 100 times more than now. All those hills you have to walk and push your bike, you will climp them easily. The bad side is, you always have to wait for your friend because they can't keep up ;-)

FYI

It appears to be a bike from Canadian Tire department store.

Sounds like a typical Department Store bike to me. This bike will not serve you well, except maybe as a beater to cruise down to the local 7-11 on...

Save up funds to get an entry-level "real" bike from an actual bicycle store.

That is not a very good bike. It was built only to look cool and sell. It is spec'd with poor quality parts for anything intense. If you want to do some jumps of trail riding, that is not a bike i would recomend. If you are looking to get into mountian biking, start off with that bike, and see how you like the sport. If u get hooked like i did, u will definitely want a better bike. However, if it is not something you ride often, and just screw around on it every now and then, save your money.
