Is everything a mud pit or have some trails survived the deluge?

Methinks everything muddy now. Its still dumping now.
I'm hoping for a little dry time Sunday AM.

Just rode Wilder Ranch in Santa Cruz. The singletracks are holding up well and not too muddy at all. However, the fireroads have a lot of run off and at some places well rutted. I came up on a few at high speed and scared the living hell out of me.

All said, when the going gets wet, Wilder Ranch seems to be the best area. The sandy terrain absorbs much of the rain and the mud is only in spot areas. Had a blast riding there today, Sunday.

Hmmm.. I've ridden there w/i the past two weeks and it was way to muddy, rutted, and pretty much in crap condition. I'm curious to hear what trails you rode?

We rode Eucalyptus, log cabin, and most of what was on the Wilder side. Didn't do mailbox as it tends to get muddier in there. Most muddy spots we'd encounter were on the fireroads with lots of ruts and running water, but just about all the singletrack was in pretty good condition. Plan on trying demo forest next weekend.

I would imagine that Demo forest would be in better shape, althought I can imagine all the down branches and occasional trees. Have fun!

There was a good size tree down on Tractor about 1/2 way Saturday morning and a fresh slide on the fire road climb out just past the Braile trail but it was easily ride-able.

Went out and rode New Hogans today in the dumping rain.

Even with all the rain there was hardly any mud. Yeah, there were a few standing puddles here and there, but not muddy stuff. I was trying like mad to stay up high on the ridges and wound up riding some barely noticable trails, but was more fun than staying low along the water.
