Can anyone identify the titles of Canadian MTB magazines and web sites please.
I am from New Zealand and we get most of the US, UK and Aussie mags but nothing from Canada...

The only Canadian magazines I know about are "Canadian Cyclist" and "Pedal".

Neither one appears to focus entirely on mountain biking, a pro or a con depending on your point of view.

I have to say that of the copies I've seen and read, Pedal sucks. Canadian Cyclist is a bit better, but in my view, it doesn't come anywhere close to Mountain Bike Action for quality of content.

Here's the link to Canadian Cyclist (www.canadiancyclist.com). They have a links section that will give you tons of web sites you can browse.

Thanks Mike,

So do you get your MTB info from US magazines?
I am a bit surprised - even here in NZ we have 2 pretty darn good mags - SPOKE and NZ Mountain Biker. Australia has 4-5...

Any good Canadian web sites?

cheers Graeme

Sad to say it, but yes, I do get most of my information from American magazines. You would think that we would have more to choose from, but from what I've seen of Canadian bike magazines, they're not very good.

I'd say that of all the bike magazines I've personally read, MBA is the best of them. Most of the others are thin on content and heavy on advertising. On top of that, MBA is usually the cheapest of the bunch.

As for Canadian web sites, there are probably hundreds of them out there. You didn't say specifically what you were looking for.....a particular region of Canada?... a particular style of riding?

A couple of West Coast-based sites I know of (since you did post this in the Western Canada forum) are NSMB (http://www.nsmb.com/) and Pinkbike (http://www.pinkbike.com/).

There's also Dropmachine (http://www.dropmachine.com/), though I don't know where they are based from.

I spend most of my internet time here at Mtbr, so I don't know which ones to recommend to you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again Mike,

I am involved with 2006 World MTB Champs in Rotorua NZ (www.2006rotoruamtb.com). I am aware of all the sites etc you've mentioned - just thought there might be more...
pinkbike.com have already posted a big story and Drop In TV are here soon.
Hope some of you good people (Canadians!) will make it here, as well.
Thanks for all your help. Once 2006 is over we are planning on trying to get to Canada to ride...

cheers Graeme

Dropmachine (http://www.dropmachine.com) is based out of Toronto, Ontario and is mostly FR/DH/Street oriented.

There is also my humble website... The Ride (http://www.theride.ca) <---shameless plug ;)

Until I read this thread, I had no idea there were Canadian cycling pubs...

Imagine that...

I also prefer MBA to the others. I picked up a few and leafed through them... one had some pretty handy maps of a few UK trails, but had half the content of MBA for twice the price...
