Hi folks, I just recently fullfilled an old dream of mine and bought a Moots YBB. Three days at my home I started checking, weighting and opening this little piece of heaven and found a surprisingly heavy spring in the softtail suspension (95gr). Does anybody of you know of a source for lighter rebuild kits, Ti springs or the like? When this topic was here before I am sorry, didnt found anything yet.

I used to have a YBB, absolutely one of the most beatifully crafted frames anywhere-occasionally I miss it. I bet you could find some elastomers to replace the heavy steel spring, maybe you could get a bunch of fork elastomers and then cut them down a bit to fit in the tube. I never did this, but thought about it alot. If you could get elastomers to work they would also provide a little bit of inherent rebound damping, which I wished my YBB had; it was a little too bouncy for me sometimes. Good luck, and remember to let us know if you figure something out.

I have spoken to Butch at moots about ti spring for YBB, and he said that it it too soft and moots does not recommend using it. Piece.

Thanks a lot already. I will live with the steel spring so far and check out the elastomer option maybe. However the three bolts holding the suspenion together I will change for Ti.
