Hey Guys,

Just wanted to give you some updates on Niner Bikes. As you can tell from the banner, they will be producing ONLY 29" framesets. That's right, no kids wheels. Chris @ Niner sent me a message saying he is really close to getting some more info and pics on his website, but logistically the bandwidth just has been maxed out on his end. We might see pics very soon to all of us who have emailed him...I know there is a lot of anticipation, but the wait will be over soon!

As mentioned on another thread below, NinerBikes will be the title sponsor for the 29" wheeled bike forum for 2005. Apparently there was some confusion as mtbr has 2 ad guys internally and communication was crossed when the ad space expired. In NO way was there any shady behavior going on inside mtbr - it was just human error. It has been explained to me there can even be 2 sponsors to one forum (Look at Downhill forum for Example - there is Goride and FOX as sponsors) so the opportunity is there.

I think it is really great we have truly dedicated builders like Niner(TBA), Wily, Walt, Vulture, Sycip. Soulcraft, IF, Strong, Surly, Steelman, Fisher, ECT ETC ETC supporting the 29"er movement. It was three years ago when Jan aka Cloxxki and I had the idea of bringing his website over onto the mtbr.com forums and luckily Francis said "no problem" and created this board for us. Heck, look at how Francis is even riding a Rock Lobster now and it's one of the most popular/highest traffic of all the different forums. So, support the little guys that are building these machines for us and get ready for a big spring with lots of cool, new toys to drool over.

for the explanation. the bike world is too small to have little guys pulling the rug out from under each other; so it's great to know that this was a mixup by the sales guys and nothing more.
i am getting really close to ordering my first 29er- i need to sell a bike (or 2) and then decide which "little" guy gets my order, money and loyalty! ;)

29ers are alive and here to stay!!!

Thanks for the explanation. I hope you make sure the folks at Wily come away happy. Brad deserves a lot of credit and consideration for stepping forward and being the first to sponsor this forum, regardless of what the best business practices for right now dictate.

On another note, I love it when forums are individually sponsored: they're the only ones I can get to on dial up. All the other ones hang up when spinbox tries to serve up an ad (or whatever spinbox does). That means at night I see the Jericho and Wily banners exclusively. No wonder I'm a singlespeeding 29er rider. :)
