They ordered some other stems at the same time so that may be the holdup cause Mav was on the phone when I was in the shop and they said they had the crowns. I feel like a kid on Christmas, I'm dying to play with the new toy! As soon as its on I'll post pics and whatnot. So for now its still on the wall at the shop being admired by many. Did you perchance measure the axle to crown distance on the Maverick? I'm looking into getting the Maverick and I'm concerned about making the HA too steep....especially when the shock compresses. AK Chris 02-24-2004, 03:42 PM Did you perchance measure the axle to crown distance on the Maverick? I'm looking into getting the Maverick and I'm concerned about making the HA too steep....especially when the shock compresses. They have a spreadsheet with all the A-C heights of a lot of forks. It's something like 520mm if I remember right, its actually just a few mm higher than a 5" Z1. Maybe I'm an idiot, but how would the HA be dramatically different at full compression than any other fork you're running right now? Count Zero 02-24-2004, 04:44 PM Chris - Assuming that it's butt-cold in Alaska, you may want to change the damper oil right away. I took a ride the other day at about 20 degrees F, and the fork felt aweful - hydro-locking on compression. Something to think about. It's an easy change. Maybe I'm an idiot, but how would the HA be dramatically different at full compression than any other fork you're running right now? I'm concerned about the HA near full travel. That extra inch of travel should equate to almost an extra degree steeper head angle over a 5" fork. That's why I asked about the A-C height. If it started at 492mm or so like a Fox Vanilla....I'd be concerned. But if it starts out around the same height as a Z1......it should be perfect...at least perfect for my type of riding. I really hope you get it installed and tested, soon. I want to read about how it rides compared to other forks. I want to know how it will compare to my Z1FR. I can't believe it would be as plush or strong, but I've been wrong before. Thanks again. btw.....I guess I could have checked the Maverick site, but I assumed that they wouldn't have it listed. My bad. |
