hi there ,
firstly Happy New Yr!!
i have a qn to ask ,
does anyone know the weight of a stock 03 GT ava 1.0?
i got mine with crap components ( wheeler parts )
now after numerous changes and $$
i manage to bring the weight down to 11.5 kg , running on panaracer Fire xc pro 2.1 at the rear and trailblaster 2.1 in the front.
Is that a good weight ?
also planning to switch to a Santa cruz chameleon , any comments ?

So your bike weighs 25.3 lbs. with the Bomber fork? I would say that is pretty good. When I bought my avalanche in 95' stock with no fork at all they said it weighed 26 even. That was with LX components and Mavic 230 wheels. With my MX Comp 110 w/ETA I am guessing that its more like 27.5 now. But my curiosity is sparked and I am going to have to weigh it to see.
In any case a 25 lb bike is great.

lastest update .
after changing to a SID and bontrager asym wheelset , now it weighe 23.5 lbs
i tink my frnt tire = panaracer trailblaster 2.1
rear tire = panaracer xc pro 2.1
adds up some weight too .
PS : any comments on a 03 zaskar expert frame with kinesis tubing?

I had 02 zaskar race (which broke) and now have 03 zaskar expert. '02 and '03 zaskars (race and expert) are the same except the GT logo on the head tubes. 02 frames have a printed logo and 03 frames have a metal logo glued to the head tube.
My M-size weighed 1632 g, current L-size weighs 1685 g. I also own a 04 Sazkar expert S-size. In 04-05 integrated headsets and separate seatpost QRs were introduced and also frame weight went up a lot, zaskar '04 S-size weighs 1670 g without seatpost QR!
I found two problems with new Pacific "GT" frames.
They don't last as long as the real GT frames but warranty is up to the mark here. And they are extremely stiff which is not good for long rides and races sometimes.
