Looking to buy a handheld GPS for around $150...I haven't researched much and figured I would ask here to get some leads. Any deals going on right now? Thanks.

I have one of these and like it. It's cheap small and there is a bike mount you can get for it.

I am using same and it will do anything you need a GPS to do. Remember that as with alot of GPSs you will need to get software to make it interactive. I personnally like being able to see where I have been and knowing distances of my favorite trails.

For $150 I think the Extrex Legend is a really good deal, shop around for it. It is now around the $150 mark from $200 since an update color version just came out for around $300. Has a US road map built in.

Amazon has it for $135

Amazon shows the Legend at $169 now but you can get the Vista for $218 - it has 3 times the memory plus a compass and altimeter. I just got one a few days ago. Rain has kept me from riding with it but it's been neat driving around with it.

key words "Looking to buy a handheld GPS for around $150"

Did a search at that time and came up with Legend for $139 (that is $10 more than the Venture). And $218 for three time the memory(an of course a few other feathers), I really don't think its worth it for someone looking to spend "AROUND" $150. At $139 (you could have gotten an additonal $30 for getting the Amazon card at that time ) I think the Legend "WAS" the best buy for being around $150.
This just gives you a base idea, Amazons always goes up and down. Just have to wait until it comes back down if you missed the deal. For $169 I don't think is worth it, that is about the regular price range for the Legend.

From shopping.com looks like wal-mart has the lowest online price $135.44 plus about $6 dollars shipping.

I'm not sure why you posted such a vitriolic reply, I was offering a point of consideration.

Saving up the extra $80 or so may take some extra time but the *possible* disappointment wishing for the extra memory and/or features would last much longer, it's up to the reader to decide if it's worth it to him.

Besides, the Vista may be "around $150" before too long with new models coming out.

So just chill.

Thanks for the recommendations...I'll keep checking Amazon and Froogle for the mentioned models.

I got a Garmin ForeTrex 101 for Christmas and it is really cool. It is very small, waterproof and runs on 2 AAA batteries. It also has a bike mount. It does not come with an interface cable, but you can get one for about $12. As with most GPS units you need some extra software to do anything useful (fun) with it. I have tracked a few rides since I got it and it works very well. They sell them at Target in a bundle that includes the handlebar mount.
