What's the new surface made of? I have to do most of my riding with my kid in a trailer behind me. I'd LOVE go somewhere with some woods... but I"m hesitant to go towing on anything but pavement.

It's still crushed limestone but they resurfaced it with new and compacted it. Last fall it was very snooth and fast, we'll have to see if it gets ruts in it when the snow melts. Even the old surface saw lots of trailers being pushed or pulled. You shouldn't have any problem.

how old is your kid?? Get one of those "trainer" kids bikes that hook up to your bike's seattube. Probably a bit lighter, and will roll over things easier, and once your kid gets a bit older, they can even pedal a bit. I say get'em on a bike by themselves as early as possible, well, within reason. ;) I wouldn't worry about pulling a trailer on Paint Creek though, it's about as easy as it's going to get, and I see many many other trailers out there too. Maybe there should be an annual Paint Creek Trailer race, w/ a sandbag in the trailer for replication, and no liability. :p

My son's 4. He REALLY likes tooling around in his trailer. He gets to play with his Matchbox cars, maybe eat some fruit snacks, etc. I've been thinking about the 3rd wheel trainer bikes for him.... for next season. See, I don't get to do much riding without him. Call me selfish, but the thought of having to limit my rides to a mile because he's tired just doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun.

I'm already looking forward to the snow melting. I can't wait to put something under my wheels other than my rollers. Heh!
