I was hoping for input on what spokes to relace my xt disc hubs/317 rims with. I am mostlty concerned with making them strong. I weigh 190lb and ride more like a juggernaut than skilled. Also, would brass nipples be more preferably than al? Red would definelty be choice...but if brass is superior in durability, than prob go with brass. Lastly, I plan on rekacing myself, then taking to lbs to torque..when loosing sokes, do you have some sort of untightening sequence?...thanks for any input

I'm currently in the process of building a new set of wheel. I'm 180lbs and I'll be using DT SuperComp and X3.1. DT have created the SuperComp for disc brake usage. Might not be as tough as 2.0mm Champion but I'm convinced there strong enough.

I'll use Spline Drive Alloy nipple but I hesited a lot in between brass and alloy. I think that alloy will be find, especially since the head of the supercomp are 1.8mm, which allow for thicker nipple.

All I know about unlacing is that if you go smoothly and evenly all around, you won't cause undue stress to the rim. :D

Strong?
Straight guage spokes
Brass nipples

Pattern?
Not really, some people loosen them slack and then cut them for easier removal.
Try to match up the grooves on old hub with the new spokes and pattern, the old spokes will have pressed a groove into the hub flange, they will seat easier and last longer if you can match them up.
