Hey guys, I'm looking for some recommendations on cranks. I bunged up my cheapo Truvativ Isis the other day (tried to use the crank puller without taking out the washer, and ended up having to use the dremel on the washer just to get the cranks off... and I wasn't able to be that accurate) so I'm guessing that they might last another month, if they stay tight at all...

Anyway, I'm not that taken with Isis, cause I don't like to have to change my BB every 2 months.

So I figure I have a couple options:
1. Limp along with what I have until it's truly shot. Unfortunately, the BB I have is just about done, and I'd hate to buy a new Isis BB if I might not buy another Isis crank.

2. Go bargain, like a set of Kooka square-tapers from Ebay plus a rebuildable Real BB from Cambria.

3. Go Shimano.

4. Go 2-piece (ie, Azonic 454, etc). Probably way overkill for the aggressive XC I do here in Illinois that probably equals a family bike path in other areas. Plus, seems very heavy?

Any advice out there? I've used up my fair share of cranks from having the bolts come loose, and pretty much the only thing I haven't tried is Shimano's spline, whatever it's called.

slowride,
i am into shimano XT's, durable, shift great and no issues.
you can also try profile chromoly crankset. heavy , but bullet proof.
