I'm looking for a low priced, decent quality XC FS bike, and the Ram certainly fits this description, but what I want to know is:

What brand is the rear shock on the Ram 2.0?

And what is the history of Raleigh MTB frames, are they durable?

Anyone who has a Ram, it would be greatly appreciated if you could give some info.

No frame issues what so ever have developed with this model. I plan on getting that same model form my girlfriend.

Thread is old, but I own a Ram 2.0 and will chime in.

For the money I payed (a bit over $300, we are good friends with the owner of the shop) I am impressed. I have truly, beat the crap out of this bike and the only problems are that my rear derailleur has seen its last days via me laying it down, just banging it up in general. And my brake pads are pretty well dead, I have an obsession with stoppies (bye-bye front pads) and managed to get WD40 on the rears while lubing up the chain :rolleyes:

I am by far, a very light rider (130lbs) that transfered from bmx to mountain bikes. So, naturally, it didn't last long before I was hitting 5 foot tall doubles that were by my house and any other jump I could find. And in the past month I have been doing a lot of riding on the mountains by my house, my only gripe is due to my crap derailleur shifting down or up one gear when I start pedalling hard. Oh well.

Everything on the bike has held up fine, and if I used this bike for mainly xc riding which it was designed for I probablly wouldn't be having any problems at all.

the ram 2.0 is great bike. it's not the lightest bike ever but it handles really nice and can take hits great. my dad modified mine and made it a 5" travel bike instead of a 4'' travel bike.when i first got it it weighted in the neighborhod of 36 pounds and now it's around the mid 32's. but it's a full custom and kinda pricey build. but go for it.

Raleigh frame is good. Durable and tough
