I am having a real hard time finding a charger for either 12v or 14.4v nimh batteries.
Radio Shack has one for an 18v battery. Is that too much juice or would it work?
Theres plenty of cheapo motorcycle trickle chargers around but are those safe for
nimh? The 14.4v nicad bat was really cheap to make. Theres an elecrtonics store here in town called Fry's. They have 7.2v RC packs for like $5. Too bad they are only 2200mah.
Thanks,
Toby

I have a Maha MH-C777 II+ that works with NiMH, NiCad, and Li-Ion up to 14.4V but it's about $80. You might be able to find a standard 18V-20V wall wort with the proper current, probably less than $10. Take the capacity of the battery and divide by 10 to find the proper current for a trickle charge (e.g. 4000mAh battery with 400mA charger).

I second the Maha. When you're not using it to charge your headlight, it comes in handy for everything from AA's in your TV remote to reconditioning spent Li-ion cell phone batteries. The II-plus model that Homebrew talked about will cover just about anything you can throw at it, and had some nice extras such as overtemp cut-off, capacity testing, a built-in Molex connector to wire up your own harnesses, and moveable pins that are adaptable to the layout of various cellphone and camera battery packs.
