I've got a '99 Z3 light sitting in my parts box that has Disc tabs, and was wondering if I could swap it over to one of my Z2's..
-got a '98 atom bomb (no tab) and a '99 z2 bam (has a tab but the z3 color would match my bike almost perfectly).
Got some enduro seals in the mail for both the '98 & '99 and will be installing 'em soon, and adding a speedbomb kit to the '99, so while I am at it, I wanted to check out if I could swap the lowers, anyone done this?
TIA!
peace,
Serge

Well, that might be a tough question, what is the travel of the 99 Z3, is it 80mm? If it is 100 or 130mm it probably wouldn't work because the legs are different, but here's a way that would help you determine if you could do this; Turn the Z3Lite upside down, and turn the 98 Atom upside down, notice that a few inches of the legs are "hollow". If this hollow-space measures the same on both forks, then they are most likely going to work because the bushing placement should be the same. To be on the safe side though you never take the lowers from a shorter travel fork and try to make them work with a longer travel fork, because the bushing placement will usually not support this. Going the other way around though, like taking an 80mm fork and using it's lowers(if everything else is identical) on a 70mm fork will usually work, which is what you want to do it sounds like. If that Z3 Lite is ~80mm model, I think it will work fine.

I believe the z3 lite is 70 or 80mm travel.. I'll have to check on it.. it's definitely NOT 100mm, which was the LongTravel version was..
Thanks for the tips on checking travel, etc.. I hadn't thought of that... yet (=
thanks,
