Looking into buying one for around 3 hundred. Important product features would be accuracy, size, (the more compact the better, but I don't want ot give up clairty for a samll screen) legible screen (colour if needed, size, clarity etc) and last but definitely not least durability. Any suggestions and input would be great. I'm sure I'm not the first guy to go through this process. Thanks in advance.

My eTrex Vista has lots of features for under $300. Compact and survived 1.5 years on the handlebar of my Fuel through lots of rough singletrack.

See more information on this recent thread. http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=63186 Also look at the links in this thread that reference other more complete threads that have useful information and links to useful web sites too.

Also, type in GPS and "Discussions" in the search box above.

Check out the new Garmin GPSMAP60c, color screen, decent amount of memory, accepts external antennae and can be had for about 350 from amazon. I have a Garmin Etrex Legend that I have enjoyed but would love to move up to the MAP 60C.

The smallest one available, not un-legible, compact, rugged, has an optional bike handlebar mount and best of all, available for about $100. I've been using it for a couple of years.

Where did you see the GPSmap60c for $350? I see it for 4 bills, but not $350.
