I don't know if they are supposed to be like this or not, so I thought I'd post it. I recently bought a Selle Italia SLR XP saddle, and at the points where the rails bend, they seem to be dented. I just need to know if this is normal or not. Thanks.

are you sure you didnt overtightined the seat clamp bolts? the slr uses hollow titanium rails and i never saw that happened. i think you overthighted the bolts.

The Ti rails on my SLR are slightly dented in exactly the same place - might be normal, might not, dunno... :)

It actually came out of the box that way. And the saddle is the XP version, so the rails are tubular Vanox instead of Ti.

Yup, I'm pretty positive that mine was like that out of the box too - have never had it mounted that much forward on the rails anyways.

If you check out this picture that I ripped from Selle Italia's website it looks like the rails are dented too...

I wonder if perhaps when riding did you hit the ground hard and the saddle soaked up the hit??

I really tighten (Really tight) my saddle down tight and have never had a problem - the rails seem quite strong...

Perhaps its a manufacturer problem.

I was wondering the same thing.....I received the Selle Italia SLR as a Christmas gift...It has the same dents in the exact location and it's still in the box...

Well, I haven't even ridden it on the trail yet, just up and down the street to get it setup on my post correctly. I noticed it right out of the box, but I mounted it anyway. But the combination of the dented rails and my using a USE alien post has me a bit weary of durability. It seems like every has this same thing going on, so it's probably normal, but I'll try to contact Selle Italia just to get to the bottom of this. I'll let ya'll know if I find out anything.
