Is anyone doing this event on Sunday? I will be down from Newcastle with a crew to enjoy the ride. Lookout for the Ano Orange Turner, a guy on a Jekyl and a bunch of old fellas on hardtails. Say hello if you see us.

You done it before?

I did it in 2002 and pretty much HATED it for most of the ride...

Leading up to the harbour bridge, it was actually quicker to walk your bike because of all the bike traffic. The when you hit a downhill, you get yelled at by about half the people doing it cause your not on your brakes(I was coasting..... going only about 30km/ph, it was a 50zone).

You have to give the older people a good 2 meters turning radius if you don't want to get told off.

But that was my experience. I talked to people who did it last year, and apparently they fixed most of the traffic problems.

Let us know how it goes and have fun.

Oh yes... the cops dont appreciate show offs:D SO careful about having 'fun'(like going offroad instead of sticking to the crowded foot paths and launching gutters.).

Thanks for the workstand... I can't believe I lived soo long without it:)

Change of plans... its going to be stinking hot so I figured I would add to the punishment by riding the single speed. Look out for a black Surly 29 er SS.

Bit late to say this, as it has started already..

But don't worry, theres not many climbs. And theres got be about 3thousand people who walk the climbs... so no shame:)

Hey OzLB, Thanks for the organising the frame- picked her up yesterday and I can't wait to build her up. If you ever get down to the ACT and feel like riding/beer I'm ya man.

I will take you up on that offer. Is there a 24hour race in or near the ACT?

Hell yeah- like the biggest 24 hour race in the southern hemisphere- the Mont 24 Hour- first week of October in Canberra. Also a solo only race over Easter. I'm definately up for the Mont but not sure about the Easter solo race.

But enough of this racing stuff- this is what I was talking about when I meant riding/beer.

yeah, i know it is only a wussy ride... that it is a pain to ride across the bridge, that there ain't not dirt... but come on, it furthers the cause of cyclists... so why not support it

it is a FUN ride, so just chill, put on a smile and ride along....

i organised a grp of 11 and we had a ball... i enjoyed bunnyhoppin' gutters, speed humps etc.... bouncin' around on my duallie is good fun

man, also seeing 8000 cyclists on the roads is an awesome thing!
