Sure we would all rather ride all the time. But here's a suggestion from one guy. If the conditions are on the wet side, get out any way. Do some trail maintenance once in awhile. Last weekend I was out doing HAND TO HAND COMBAT with THORN BUSHES that are encroaching some trails. I bought a chordless hedge trimmer and a folding pocket saw. And Sticker bushes don't go down without a fight. One of the best methods I've found is to push the bush over with your foot and saw the stalks as low to the ground as possible. I don't particularly like hearing "well someone's got to do it" or after telling people what I was planning on doing saying "go ahead", it's kind of like a slap in the face. But it is my decision.. If you look around it's amazing what you can learn from what the Boyscouts have done with drainage management and anti-erosion methods. Encroaching Prickers and rubble removal is just a start for me.. I'll log my time with my local group JORBA.
