Nebraska folk: Are there any good trails in the Valentine area?

The only trail I know about in that area is the Cowboy Trail, which is the nation's longest Rail Trail (321 miles). I have not been on this trail, but everyone I have spoken to who has says it is a great trail with awesome scenery. But, it is a rail trail... so nothing technical.

But the section of trail near Valentine is supposed to be the nicest along the route. The Sand Hills of Nebraska are really nice.

There is a local mountain biking organization in Valentine though, and they have posted a few other rides in the area. Here is a link. Might help to drop these guys an e-mail and see what you can dig up.

Looking over the information on their website, it sounds like if you e-mail the guys at Yucca Dune they can hook you up with some trails less traveled.

I might have to make a trip out that way this spring and see what sort of dirt they have there.. sounds promising.

If you don't mind driving, you can also head west to the Chadron region and hit up Fort Robinson, Chadron, and Pine Ridge. There is supposed to be great riding there, but it is a decent drive from Valentine.
