Any ideas and cost? I know Moots probably can but I think they will be too busy to get it done quickly. Let me know if you have any Ideas. How about the add on a disc brake to the frame inventions? Do they work well? E me at: FSpence687@aol.com Thanks.

it's got to be very precise because a millimeter off in either direction, and your disc is gonna rub.

Moots is your best bet. They would do the best job and still guarantee the frame.

Try Dean Bikes in Boulder - their welder really knows how to beautifully weld ti - BUT if you have a Super Light frame, forget it. Moots themselves will not retro fit those frames as the material is too thin to add the disc mount. I used Dean this summer to do the magic to an old Merlin and their work was amazing. I also asked them and Moots to fix my YBB Superlight, and both said "no".

I'm sure Moots would do a great job, but here is another option. Titus charged me about $200 and I had my frame back in a couple of months... maybe less.

Please go to this post to see a picture of their work.

I've been riding the retrofit for 2 years now without a problem. The only thing to consider is make sure you have the desired rotor clearance with respect to the seat and chain tubes. I was only able to run a 145 mm rotor... the standard 160 mm was out of the question because the frame was designed around V-brakes and not disk brakes. Get a hold a friends rear disc wheel and put in on to see what kind of clearances you have before you send the frame off.

Good Luck

How about Russ Denny? He's located in Murrieta / Temecula, CA (north of San Diego). He put tabs on a frame for me and took care of repainting it all as well. He was extremely professional and his work was done on schedule and even a little below the estimated cost. It would definitely be worth an email to him ... I was very satisfied with his work. He may be known for his road bikes, but in my opinion he knows his way around all types of bicycles.

Here's a link to his site (it's basic, but it does have his email address):

Good luck!

I have heard of Strong Frames doing such an operation too.
