One of my bikes is a Giant Rainier, it's a hardtail for those that dont know already. I want to put an MRP on it, but there are two that I'm looking at. One is for low chainstays, and the other is for high chainstays. But I dont know exactly what a chainstay is, and I'm sure I dont know what a low or high one is.

Is it even possible to put an MRP on a hardtail? I know it's not too practical, but I want to turn it into a freeride hardtail. I know it wont perform like my Bullit, but it will be fun.

Oh yeah, and I'm thinking of getting the VP Free, you guys heard anything more than I might know already about it?

The chainstay is the part of your rear triangle that runs parallel to the chain (and the ground). In other words, it is the tube on your frame that runs from the BB to the rear wheel dropout on the drive side. I'm 99% sure that you probably have a rear deraillure cable runing along the chainstay on your giant, too.

I'm also 99% sure that you have a low one. The high chainstay is commonly found on single pivot FS bikes (probably on your Bullit). I'm not sure why they would use a high chainstay, initially I figured for more clearance, but that really doesn't make sense when I think about it.
