Anyone have some 01 or 02 slayer linkage plates from a busted/retired frame? Heck, anyone have a old slayer frame they wanna sell?
I wanna try the old switch a roo from the instinct plates to the slayer plates. 4.75 inches would work great on the rear of my instinct.
I have a couple possabilities, but nothing likely.
Thanks

Have you tried to see if you can purchase the links through Rocky? I am sure they are not cheap, if you are really **** lucky, maybe they have a broken Slayer frame and can set you up. Call Rocky yourself, and ask for someone in engineering. They will still have to ship it to your local Rocky dealer. I have found that calling Rocky presonally, without going through the LBS and Schmoozing whoever is on the phone helps out bigtime, but don't expect them to mail, directly to your house unless it is literature.

You know, that is a pretty good idea. I'll try calling as I have heard of maybe 30 people doing this with no issues. Maybe I will get lucky.
One slight problem. Rocky doesn't want people doing something they believe is potentially dangerous. Every shop or person I have talked to about this said Rocky will sell the parts if available, but do not support this being done. The other thing I have heard is that no one has ever seen a broken linkage, why would Rocky keep them in stock unless they thought someone might need one.
You are right though, someone in engineering might be able to get thier hands on one and sell it to me though a local shop.

A friend of mine has a 99 Element Race and he had his 3-D link wear out prematurly at the pivot point where it meets the shock. It took him a lot of calling to get them to send him a new set of 3-D links to his LBS, so they do keep these in stock, and there probably is the od 3-D link that wears out.
At the same time you cannot expect Rocky or other manufactures to always send replacement parts to everyone that has experienced a problem. With my friend he was doing his own bushing replacement repairs and Rocky was questioning his own work, afterall we all might think we know how to fix things, and most of of will do the repair correctly, but there are people that will do more damage than good. In your case Rocky could state that we will sell or give you the link, BUT we want your LBS to install it.
I have had three Rocky's and their service reps from my particulal zone where I live and at their factory have provided me with good service and advice when I have had a problem. In fact they even went overboard when I had issues with a particular problem I had with a defective component. Just talk like you know what you are doing and and don't give them the BS. Good luck.
