I've been thinking of replacing the bushings on my 2002 instinct. Is it a difficult job? I will also be looking into changing my Cloud Nine bushings and seals.
Thanks

View Full Version : RM element/instinct bushing replacement... is it easy? Severum 11-04-2004, 12:42 PM I've been thinking of replacing the bushings on my 2002 instinct. Is it a difficult job? I will also be looking into changing my Cloud Nine bushings and seals. Thanks Louis Ricksom 11-04-2004, 01:58 PM I have a 2000 Instinct, and replaced the bushings last year. You will need to purchase the bushings kit from your Rocky dealer, which costs around $75. You will get 4 sets of bushings (for the 4 pivot points). Make sure you have a high quality hex tool set, a torque wrench, and some bolt thread locktite. I don't have the torque values handy right now, but make sure you tighten the bottom bracket pivot and rear shock rocker pivot (both having a pivot spindle) very tight. Clean all contact points on the bike well before installing new pivots, and don't lube anything. However, you make want to take apart, clean, and relube the actual shock pivot. Severum 11-04-2004, 03:16 PM There is no play in the fame bushings except the rear shock bushing. It came off the shock somewhat easily. I cannot get the front bushings off the shock. I assume that it how the rear should be. That will get replaced. What should the frame bushings look like say through half of thier life. The upper and lower main pivots look to be the most worn with the lower being a little more worn. The small bushings seem like new. Is there something good to clean the bushings with?
