I find Pine Hills, PLymouth a nice place to ride when there is too much snow or ice on my Boston area trails. The pilgrims had it right. The climate is milder there.I went there the week after we got 24 inches in December, it was warmer there as usual when we were experiencing single digit temps, and I went there Sat when I thought Wompatuck would be too muddy/icy. Whoever designed these trails is an artist.
Now to my point. during one of the above rides, 2 heavily armed homeland security types in military Humvee chased me down and out of there. (I didn't leave, I cut back onto tighter singletrack, unaccessable to them.) I understand since it sits nicely above the Nuke Plant, but since it is not on power plant proprerty, I didn't feel compelled to comply. When I was there Saturday, there were new No tresspassing signs posted there along the road. I was more immediately concerned with getting in a 2 hr ride. Now I wonder if this is the beginning of the end. while there is a water tower and radio tower in there, I don't see the security threat, especially from skinny underdressed bikers.
Can any locals or others in the know share some info? Have I always been poaching there? I feel less concerned about poaching here vs a public park where backlash can cause further restrictions.
Thanks a million
Mike
