I find Pine Hills, PLymouth a nice place to ride when there is too much snow or ice on my Boston area trails. The pilgrims had it right. The climate is milder there.I went there the week after we got 24 inches in December, it was warmer there as usual when we were experiencing single digit temps, and I went there Sat when I thought Wompatuck would be too muddy/icy. Whoever designed these trails is an artist.

Now to my point. during one of the above rides, 2 heavily armed homeland security types in military Humvee chased me down and out of there. (I didn't leave, I cut back onto tighter singletrack, unaccessable to them.) I understand since it sits nicely above the Nuke Plant, but since it is not on power plant proprerty, I didn't feel compelled to comply. When I was there Saturday, there were new No tresspassing signs posted there along the road. I was more immediately concerned with getting in a 2 hr ride. Now I wonder if this is the beginning of the end. while there is a water tower and radio tower in there, I don't see the security threat, especially from skinny underdressed bikers.

Can any locals or others in the know share some info? Have I always been poaching there? I feel less concerned about poaching here vs a public park where backlash can cause further restrictions.

Thanks a million
Mike

sorry I have no answers to your inquires but I'll continue to ride there. I was there in oct nov and noticed some new log ramps had been built.

were you there 2 days ago on saturday feb 14th? what are the conditions? snow? ice ?

you're talking about the east or ocean side of 3A correct?

I saw the stunts and rode on the ocean side on 2/14. the snowiest/iciest spots are IN the trail indentations. the general woods are clear. quite rideable. not muddy desite the thaw.

always like to try different places-and this sounds like it would be extra-fun with the local gendarm's making it interesting, to say the least-i need to work on my sprint. where do you park/enter? lots of trails/different terrain? anything like 'otis' & 'trail of tears'? anyother helpful suggestions, me & my buds would appreciate it. thanks.

Maps are only useful if the trail is marked, and they are not but your boundaries are 3A and the Plant

you take rt3 to exit 3 and head east. from rt3 south it would be left.rt3 north a right turn.follow road about 4-5 miles until rt3A intersection. most people take a left and travel about 1mi+ and 2/3 way up hill on right there's a large parking area. don't know what it actually is. this is before the bike shop on left at top of hill.

at the far end of this area there's trail head on left and one on the right. I'm usually going through this area from right to left. this place isn't really like Otis or TOT. it's not as fast rolling and can be much more technical.has longer hills.you can go on the other side of 3A also. there appears to be much more double track on this side with long climbs,well...it's Plymouth, MA. it's not a bad place. I never encountered anyone other than other cyclists.

those signs are not new. they are the exact same ones that I've seen for last 2 yrs.
