Cheers Kelvin Supergo is alright if you live there or are visiting. But not the greatest if your shopping online. I find Jensonusa to be the best. Pricepoint aint bad either. Where abouts do you live? Occasionaly depending on where you are in Australia, some bike stores are willing to try and compete with most overseas prices(you need to add in postage when comparing). I will also reccomend Larry Mettler(mtnhighcyclery.com) and Chad at Redbarnbicycles.com Both know their stuff, only down side is, is they usually have to order the parts in for you. But great service. Tell them I sent you:) Also note, these two mentioned above, have much better shippping costs then any 'online' place. Kelvin 10-29-2004, 06:36 AM I just have to let em know the bike freak sent me? hehe I dont even know yr name.... I live in sydney, know any good bike shops around here? I'm building a commuter and a full sus and need some mech help. Cheers Kelvin Supergo is alright if you live there or are visiting. But not the greatest if your shopping online. Trevor! 10-29-2004, 05:42 PM If you want to get stuff from the US, the only good people to deal with IMHO are: Larry at http://www.mountainhighcyclery.com Bill Larson; or Gio (Dirt-Boy) at http://sale.lightbikes.com Supergo et al are generally not the best to deal with and believe it or not, sometimes their prices are not all that hot. Cheers Trevor! CulBaire 10-29-2004, 06:15 PM If you are buying anything over $250AUD inc Shipping watch out... Fedex, UPS, DHL etc... And Customs will get you and charge the hell out of you until all savings are all but gone out the window. If buying a large amount of stuff it's best to get it from somewhere, like from Larry that is willing to send the stuff VIA USPS, the service is just as good, usually quicker and you won't get stung in coustoms as the UnTaxable threshhold si raised to $1000 AUD as it is coming through the postal system. I Use USPS Global Express, you get tracking numbers which are upto date VIA the Austpost EMS tracking site (more so when the Item enters Australia). Item is useually here in 4 days... Fedex took a week and a half to deliver my Forks, which was international Prority then had the nerve to chage me $90 USD initial shipping cost, then a further $130 AUD when they got here. Global Express or even Global Priority is much cheaper... Larry at www.mtnhighcyclery.com has great prices and great service... You may need to ring him though as he's always busy, becasue bike freak keeps ording stuff :p Got them cranks on yet BikeFreak? -Cul bike_freak 10-29-2004, 06:42 PM I'm David from Sydney. They will know:) Ozlongboarder: I believe you have a workstand for me:) If you want my details, just shout. Cul: Nope, cranks aren't on yet, sorta waiting for my workstand and also the new chain and the park BB tool to get my old BB out. I'm kinda worried, do you reccon i should pay the 40bucks and get my BB shell faced and chased?! Come on! I don't order that much stuff...... LOL! Who am I kidding:D My JET light just fused out during a storm, so I'm sending it back to larry.... great service! On another note... who here would buy a FS frame from OS? I have a BB tool, if you want me to send it up. It's just one of the Lifu ones, I also have a Shimano crank extrator to get the cranks off if you need it (you'll need a spacer out of something for the hollow BB spindle). BB faced and Chased, faced yes I would get them faced so the bearings line up properly, as for getting the threads chased, I wouldnt bother. Cant wait to hear a report on the cranks, or even see them in person :P -Cul bike_freak 10-29-2004, 07:38 PM I have a BB tool, if you want me to send it up. Can't wait to ride the cranks! Bad news! Turns out I have exams and then work experience at the time I was surpposed to go to melbourne, so I'm not going anymore:( If I were to go, I would fly up for the weekend without a bike.... I'm trying to convince my dad to either take me racing in melbourne, thredbo or even tasmania next year as a holiday:) Hehe.. I'm sure it will most likely be melbourne as we have losts of cousins and family friends. ozlongboarder 10-29-2004, 11:27 PM Freak- I was going to ransom it off to you. I think the container just got to Sydney, now customs do there search. They will not find much as my wife would not let me put any good stuff in there. I should be able to get that to you in a few weeks. Oh yeah there is a boingy boingy frame in there for some lucky devil as well. Cheers Ivan Kelvin 10-30-2004, 12:27 AM I'm actually looking for tools as well... whats a good place? Just message me or something when you know whats happening. Cheers. Kelvin: Both Larry and Chad can get you tools. I reccomend Park tools, I have alot of park tools, and they are great! Really not that expsenive overseas when compared to locally:) Just ordered a set of pro Park hex wrenchs, will cost me about 65bucks with postage. I believe they sell for over 150bucks here:D WOY 10-31-2004, 01:04 AM as the UnTaxable threshhold si raised to $1000 AUD as it is coming through the postal system. -Cul I have been taxed for value under the $1000 mark many many times through the postal system. My understanding of taxes and postal system go something like this. You will only be taxed if the tax to be collected is over A$50. ie the value of the goods with shipping is roughly A$500. If the value of the goods is over $1000 you will need to declare a formal declaration and customs will go through the items and put on GST, DUTY amd FEES. Eg I had a FOX fork within a shipment once and for whatever reason suspension forks carry a 10% duty so I had to pay GST plus duty on the fork. Having said that if the value is under A$1000 wether you will get taxed is somewhat of a random factor. bigdamo 11-01-2004, 01:18 AM if it is over $400- $500 check with customs to see what charges they are going to add?watch out for fedex and the like because there limit is $100.00us including shipping when customs will start charging you gst and charges. slamdunk 11-01-2004, 05:48 PM I'm actually looking for tools as well... whats a good place? ebiketools (http://www.ebiketools.com) I've bought quite a lot of Park tools from Mark. He uses USPS as well, delivery is pretty good. I've never had any problems with Customs or having to pay tax. ozlongboarder 11-01-2004, 09:57 PM I have picked up tools at the LBS when I need them, never really bought online. Will probably have to though. MWWH 11-02-2004, 02:30 PM [QUOTE=bike_freak]I'll take the frame instead:p Actualy I thought Larry threw in the stand as a complimentry gift with the frame :D Ive been very patiently waiting for that baby for months- its been very hard let me tell you, specialy around 10 p.m during the Mont after my ass was getting to that raw buffed point and I was thinking- gee I wish I had my new boinger now. Yes I am a lucky devil- but not an undeserving one. My current duallie dates back to '96- (O.K so only the seatpost and hubs are from the original bike and I have a warranty frame), and I've been coveting having a new frame after I went threw my 3rd bushing kit and 2nd swingarm- back around the turn of the millenium. Bring it on! |
