View Full Version : I missed the boat on buying a On One Disc EBB frame so..... Fast Freddy 01-13-2004, 08:11 AM I'm looking for one... didn't someone a while back post a site that had the geometries listed (so I can try to find the one that fits me the best)?? Any help? Thanks FF AndyArmstrong 01-13-2004, 08:23 AM How tall are you FF? The sizes are on the on-one site here. Fast Freddy 01-13-2004, 09:50 AM How tall are you FF? 6 foot - I usually ride a 18.5-19" frame - I like longer top tubes.... FF AndyArmstrong 01-13-2004, 10:00 AM You're borderline. Inseam? :) Zonic Man 01-13-2004, 10:10 AM Email brant. He doesn't ride and just sits in his torture chamber of an office all day (aka kitchen). Should email you back in a minute and a half (average). Fast Freddy 01-13-2004, 10:30 AM Email brant. He doesn't ride and just sits in his torture chamber of an office all day (aka kitchen). Should email you back in a minute and a half (average). The only bad thing is that they don't make this frame anymore - I want a disc tabbed EBB Inbred... I thought they were in the process of switching to a different style dropout for the disc Inbreds. Didn't want to waste Brant's time if it's something they no longer carry... FF Fast Freddy 01-13-2004, 10:32 AM You're borderline. Inseam? :) 31.75" in bare feet.... FF AndyArmstrong 01-13-2004, 10:34 AM I'm 34" and I ride a 20" so that's probably 18" :) kept man 01-13-2004, 10:56 AM i too had been eyeing the ebb disc inbred. what exactly is it they're changing - dropout style, you say? are they going vertical, or what? Fast Freddy 01-13-2004, 11:12 AM what exactly is it they're changing - dropout style, you say? are they going vertical, or what? I thought they were going with a rear dropout like the new Kona's are using? Am I off base here? FF Soupboy 01-13-2004, 11:12 AM 31.75" in bare feet.... FF What length cranks do you run? Funny. Anyway, I have a 20" EBB Inbred that might be for sale at some point - youngin' pending. Pains me to even think of it (selling a bike that is). Posted pics a while back under SS category. Sounds like you want/need something smaller but these frames are long and low - not a square build. -Sean Fast Freddy 01-13-2004, 11:35 AM I was leaning towards an 18" frame if I had to guess right now... but I'm not instantly in the market either right now - just doing my research so that in a few weeks (or 6-8) I know what I'm looking for... if that's what I still want.... FF AndyArmstrong 01-13-2004, 11:39 AM Well I guess it's a long shot but if you're in the UK in the near future I have a 20" Tinbred and an 18" Inbred you could try for fit :) brant@on-one.co.uk 01-13-2004, 01:32 PM you know we still have 20in EBB frames (steel ones) Freddie? The only problem of course is that the dollar is now so ****ed against the pound that our prices are screwy. Mail me though and we can work something out I am sure. teamdicky 01-14-2004, 05:16 AM so I went ahead and bought a Planet X Ridgeback. It really doesn't fit the bill so I am ordering a Spicer. Custom built the way you want it, EBB, whatever you want. The price is almost to good to be true. Give him a call.... spicercycles.com Fast Freddy 01-14-2004, 05:58 AM so I went ahead and bought a Planet X Ridgeback. It really doesn't fit the bill so I am ordering a Spicer. Custom built the way you want it, EBB, whatever you want. The price is almost to good to be true. Give him a call.... spicercycles.com I already have a custom Ti EBB Disc Spicer - they are nice and Gene is a great guy to work with.... just looking for some variety - I like the Inbred... Brant I think the 20" is just going to be too large... I'll keep saving my money and maybe I'll be able to get a Ti Inbred... no plans on disc the EBB on them right??? Thanks FF teamdicky 01-14-2004, 06:41 AM "Idon't think he'd be very keen. You see, he's already got one." Not 100% sure of the quote, sorry just looking to help. I wish I had your problem of adding to a collection of singlespeeds. I really had my heart set on an On-One back in November. I was truly bummed. Fast Freddy 01-14-2004, 07:16 AM No sweat.... (on trying to help).... I only have the one SS for now - but I want another.... key word is want. I'm saving my money but I can't collect it fast enough.... and yes I'm addicted to bikes.... FF brant@on-one.co.uk 01-14-2004, 08:29 AM We're going to be replacing the ti ebb frame with a sliding dropout version. It's just we've still got stock of the ti ebb frames in all sizes. Nothing inherently WRONG with the EBB's by the way, it's just that I like keeping things the same, and the cost of the EBB unit was pushing up the price of the steel frame a lot (proportionally) and also the complications of dealing with Bushnell in the US and our builders in Taiwan was getting fiddly. I could move to a set-screw design out of Taiwan, but I didn't want to, and the sliding dropout thing looks good, and we can shed some weight too. Any of that help? Fast Freddy 01-14-2004, 08:37 AM Brant Maybe I should just wait and get the NEW model...lol ... any dates yet when they will be available?? FF AndyArmstrong 01-14-2004, 08:47 AM I really want one of the new sliding dropout frames (note want, not need :) but I'm not sure I can justify it. the Inbred 01-14-2004, 10:04 AM I like the Inbred... Thanks FF i am so flattered! sliding drop-outs would be so neato. i like that idea much more than EBBs. looks cleaner, looks likes it'd be cheaper to buy, and...well, that's all that comes to mind right now. can i change topics real quick to save myself an e-mail to Brant? - Brant, are there any differences between the PX Knifen forks and the On-One forks? i've got a 400mm Knifen on my Imperial momentarily ( http://webspace.utexas.edu/barriedb/temporary/133_3346.jpg [big pic]) and am just curious. brant@on-one.co.uk 01-14-2004, 10:34 AM The on-one forks are around half the weight of the knifens (significantly thinner wall tubing). The Planet X "Superlight" fork is the same as the on-one Superlight fork. Also, the newer versions of the on-one fork (and the current Superlight PX fork) have forward angled dropouts and reinforced disc mounts and replaceable brake bosses. Darkwing Duck 01-15-2004, 01:14 AM I really want one of the new sliding dropout frames (note want, not need :) but I'm not sure I can justify it. Hell, we can ALWAYS justfy a new bike!! |
