Does anyone know if there are any MTB classes or clinics run in the Vegas area?

Being a relative newbie to the sport, I find myself thinking that my technique could use a lot of work, and I'd love to learn some things like correct downhill position, braking techniques, bunnyhops etc. Also, trying to make suggestions to my hubby (who just got his first proper bike) is really difficult when I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about... kinda like the blind leading the blind  So far about the only useful advice I've been able to give him is not to lock his elbows and to keep his weight back while going down hills.

Are MTB clinics a thing that is done in this area, or would we have to go up north or out of state for that sort of thing?

Thanks,

- Jen.

I would not pay for "class", but rather keep riding, go out with groups they usually have riders of all abilitys. But then like Willie said "if youve got the money honey, Ive got the time" and I would charge alot less Im sure :D

Practice.practice. and pedal as much as you can. most skills should come naturally. Are you doing ok riding the cootonwood area? Just keep at it and you'll find yourself riding things you thought impossible before. Also you can find a group as Yem stated. I have ridden with all types of skill levels and always have a good time. Plus you'll pick up tips from others for free instead of paying. Most of all enjoy your ride. The way you like :)

Cottonwood is great fun so far :)

We've been trying to make it out there every Saturday morning... though both of us have been hit with the flu recently, so we had to skip a couple of weeks. We've also been going out to Lake Mead mid-week. There's an improvised dirt bike/ATV track just before the park entrance with lots of lumps and bumps to practise our skills on... a couple of laps around is just right for some after-work exercise.

That book seems like a good idea, I think it could be worth getting. Also, I'll make a point of watching how other people ride out on the trails and hope to pick a few things up.

Thanks for the pointers!
