Hi
I'm looking for an onling GPS database with mountain bike tours/waypoints to feed my GPS. Do you know anything like that?

By tours do you mean multiday adventures? Or do you just mean trails (i.e. regular rides)?
I have GPS data for the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (a long tour) at:
www.topofusion.com/divide/gps.php
For trails, take a look at:
http://www.trailregistry.com
Trailregistry is a relatively new database of trails that you can upload and follow.

Try www.motionbased.com
They have a bunch of info on their site.
I met the guy at interbike and he was really helpful.

This site is not going to be much help if you're looking for US trails but it is pretty good if you're in Europe particularly Austria

I hear Magellan has the best reception (eXplorist), but lacks many bells and whistles that Garmin has. I live in N. Ga and there is heavy woods and valleys...I need a great receiver and accurate altimeter. Can anyone here give me some heads up on a unit that won't fail me for a decent price?
Thanks

I haven't had opportunity to try it in true woodsy outdoors like you mention, but the external antenna of my Garmin Rino makes me hopeful.
I have had surprisingly good tracking with it here in central Texas, in canyon-style locations with- and without- tree cover. Much better than my old Garmin 3+ ... maybe somebody near you has one that you can try out?
FWIW, I think that something with an external antenna (as opposed to the internal ones like the Garmin eTrex units) is worth noting for best reception. I've also found that positioning the gps on my bike/body makes a difference, I get better reception if the gps is put in a mesh pocket on my camelbak than if I carry it on a should-strap on the front.
