Hi all,
I have a 10W niterider light which I plan using for the 1st time this week. Would you recommend mounting it on the helmet or handle bar? I don't have the cash right now to buy another light so I have to choose between the 2 options. Also, does Ringwood close at 8 pm? and does anyone fancy going out around 6 and finishing the ride off in the dark next week?

Well the main advantage of the helmet light is that it illuminates wherever you are looking. The bar light illuminates wherever your handlebars are pointing. Your choice really depends how much having a battery cable running down the back of your helmet into your camelback will bother you. Personally, I would choose helmet light if I could only use one. Of course, the ideal setup uses both.

I'd go with the helmet light, which would let you see where you're looking. A bar light let's you see where the wheel is facing, which may be a different direction from where you're going if you're on twisty singletrack.

Helmet light is the way to go with one light. First, time out with lights ride a trail you are familiar with.

I personally prefer helmet mount also. I agree with everybody else that it's easier because you can see where you're looking. Another real advantage is doing repairs. Try to change a flat tire in the dark with only a bar mount. You have to remove it from the bars if you want to see what you're doing. The only time I would recommend the bar mount over the helmet is in foggy or really humid, steamy conditions. The light shines down from your helmet and reflects in the fog right in front of your face. If your light has the capability of mounting in both places then that's a pretty good option to have. You'll see what I mean if you ever ride in foggy conditions. Those that raced allamuchy this year can definitely relate.
