View Full Version : Swagman Hitch Rack Experiences?

Hey y'all,

I'm just getting back into MTBing after several years. I sold my Saris roof rack as it's no longer what I want (nor does it fit my current car), not to mention I pretty much need a hitch on my car to tow a small trailer from time to time. So, needless to say, I'm looking at 1-1/4" hitch mount racks. I'm considering a used Swagman XC 2 bike rack, but haven't been able to find much information on it. It appears to be a decent unit from what I can tell and I haven't found any negative feedback......yet. ;)

If anyone has any good or bad experiences to share, please let me know. Also, I'd like to hear feedback of other "budget-minded" receiver racks.

Thanks in advance!
Tommy

P.S. Yup, I searched... :)

mount on Swagman's page. I've used their racks for years, they make good stuff, but I've not seen nor tried that one. Jim

Thanks, Jim, and you're right. Fortunately, the one I'm looking at comes with a 1-1/4" to 2" adapter. Not the preferred route considering the added leverage, but I think it'll be fine since it'll only have one bike on it 99% of the time.

I appreciate the input!

if you suddenly shoot up a steep ramp or driveway, that rack has to clear the road Backing up same thing. I think that rack design is the way to go, but clearace for me (small 2 dr. coupe) is always an issue. Cheers, Jim

I agree. Thanks again for the input. I'll also be using it on a smallish coupe (BMW 325is), but for the price I'd be paying ($80 and supposedly brand new), I think it might be a good deal....

Thanks,
Tommy
