XSL_WiLL 11-01-2004, 05:51 PM Raleigh and Diamondback use soem REALLY cheap paint, it looks good new, but starts to look pretty bad after a while. But hey, who cares as long as it's a strong functional bike. I have a Diamondback... the paint started chipping off on its test ride around the parking lot... If that isn't cheap... I dont know what is... You went to a store, took a bike out for a test ride, the paint started falling off in the parking lot, but you still bought the bike?? And what did the store say about why the paint was pealing? XSL_WiLL 11-02-2004, 08:59 PM You went to a store, took a bike out for a test ride, the paint started falling off in the parking lot, but you still bought the bike?? And what did the store say about why the paint was pealing? I couldn't resist the deal, getting my hands on a 2005 frame before anybody else could (and at a very fair price). Paint isn't a huge deal to me, I'll probably end up getting it powdercoated. XSL_WiLL 11-02-2004, 09:04 PM (the whole story behind it...) It's all custom, the paint started chipping after it was built up for me. I was riding it around the parking lot just to make sure everything was working alright. He ended up giving the build to me for free because of that. Mellow Yellow 11-03-2004, 11:01 AM (the whole story behind it...) It's all custom, the paint started chipping after it was built up for me. I was riding it around the parking lot just to make sure everything was working alright. He ended up giving the build to me for free because of that. It wasn't an issue with the original paint. From time to time, and it's in EXTREEMLY rare circumstances, new bikes show up with bad paint. Most oftent it's because they got exposed to ocean air and the sal started the paint pealing process. 99.9999% of the bikes NEVER have this issue. As for re-painting it, i would wait if I were you. Re-painting the frame will automatically void the warranty. XSL_WiLL 11-03-2004, 04:01 PM Oh yea... they call painting "frame alteration" how does that work? They say that they do a one year warranty on paint and decals, but it doesn't seem worth the hassle to get it shipped back waiting a few months for paint and then getting it back. The company can not know that the frame has not been compromised in any way during the process of removing the paint or repainting. |
