Trevor! 09-23-2004, 12:31 AM Cute Doggy. bike_freak 09-23-2004, 01:16 AM That is a very very sweet bike! Very close to my dream trailbike! Whats the weight? And what rear hub is that? Aquaholic 09-23-2004, 07:10 AM Where did you get that lower front brake cable guide? Is that a Maverick part? My front brake cable(Goodridge) bows heavily under compression, and this would be ideal. Maverick needs to redo their lower cable guide location, and rotate it to the back of the fork leg, not adjacent to the tire. Can you do a closeup photo of it? SSINGA 09-23-2004, 08:14 AM What were you riding before? How do the Maveric and Id compare? I'm in the market for a new fork to go on my Moment and your thoughts on the Mavrick. XCRacer5 09-23-2004, 08:28 AM ...Whats the weight? And what rear hub is that? Weight is right around 35 lbs. I am not on the small side: 6'0 200lbs so I built a robust bike. The bottom bracket, Holzfeller crank, and big rock ring add a good amount of weight. Maverick Americal front hub, Shimano XTR rear hub. XCRacer5 09-23-2004, 08:37 AM Where did you get that lower front brake cable guide? Is that a Maverick part? My front brake cable(Goodridge) bows heavily under compression, and this would be ideal. Maverick needs to redo their lower cable guide location, and rotate it to the back of the fork leg, not adjacent to the tire. Can you do a closeup photo of it? All parts are Maverick. The new style lower front cable guide rotates so that you can position it to the side or the rear of the fork (mine is at the rear). Just make sure you have a piece of electrical tape or frame tape to prevent cable rub, the paint comes off rather quickly. See picture (low quality camera phone pic). XCRacer5 09-23-2004, 08:44 AM What were you riding before? How do the Maveric and Id compare? I'm in the market for a new fork to go on my Moment and your thoughts on the Mavrick. The ID is great. The higher bottom is great for clearing logs/rocks and the bike pedals like a dream. The Maverick fork rocks. I previously had a Sherman Firefly and although it rode nicely, it is no comparison for the Maverick. This fork just eats up everything you throw at it. It's light too, only 3.3 lbs including the stem! I am still making adjustments to the compression and sag (12 different commpression settings) . Highly recommend the Maverick fork for a Moment. Aquaholic 09-23-2004, 08:48 AM Thanks for the 411. So, does your fork still have the integrated, screw on, lower guide that routes the cable at a right angle to the tire as well? Or, just this positional guide as pictured? XCRacer5 09-23-2004, 08:53 AM ... Or, just this positional guide as pictured? Just the pictured guide. Winston 09-23-2004, 09:26 AM The ID – DUC32 combination is great. I had a Fox Vanilla 125R on the ID before with no spacers. (The Vanilla was originally on my Truth in the 100mm mode before my Truth gave up the ghost.) I also went from Mavic 317 rims to the Mavic 823 rims when I upgraded to the Maverick. I also switched from a 90mm stem to a 70mm. The result for me was a slacker feel, which I wanted. My bike is much more stable on downhill sections. The fork was plush on medium and big hits out of the box. It took about 20 miles for the small bumps to smooth out. The fork tracks excellent. I like how easy it is to get the front wheel on and off. Reduce the fork down for 4 inches and the bike screams up steep climbs, but it does have a locked out feel. The ID has always been a great climber. If you can afford it, the upgrade is well worth it. Blower 09-23-2004, 10:40 AM Crap pointing on your edgeing stones. Nice bike though. mtnbkrr 09-23-2004, 09:22 PM I've been running the DCU332 on my ID for about a year now and have nothing more to add its a great combo, stiff, light and it tracks oh so well :D J Blanman 09-27-2004, 12:42 PM I've been riding my ID-Maverick since March and been in love every since. I'm running a 2004 Med ID with the Maverick fork, Hope Mono M4 breaks, Hadley 108 point rear hub, all XT drivetrain, and Mavic XM321 rims. The bike weighed in at 30.2 poinds when built. I also ride with two other ID-Maverick riders and one Banchee-Maverick rider. Later BlanMan XCRacer5 09-27-2004, 01:24 PM All parts are Maverick. Better picture: dodger 09-27-2004, 03:21 PM I've been contemplating this setup but am fearfull of the high BB. Can any of you guys measure your BB height and report it here? mtnbkrr 09-27-2004, 07:24 PM I've been contemplating this setup but am fearfull of the high BB. Can any of you guys measure your BB height and report it here? Med. ID with 7 7/8 eye to eye shock and 2.3 gazzaloddi core tires BB measures out to be 14 3/4" with out sag. I think Maverick suggest about 40mm of sag. J |
