i will be back in town for a week or so and am thinking about bringing my bike. on past trip i have rode platte, indian cave, swanson and lewis and clark. all of those areas have some really underated trails that are so much fun to ride. is there much of a big bike scene?

I live in Bellevue and ride all those trails you mentioned, plus more. The thing is, freeride style bikes are not really necessary for the type of terrain we have out here. There's nothing really that gnarly that requires a beefier frame like that.

Most of the bikes I see on the trails out here are Hardtail of Full Suspension XC types, which seem to be optimal for all the trails within a 3 hour distance from the Omaha Metro.

Personally if I were you I would bring a lighter XC type bike with me when I came back. But that's just me.

I just don't really see much free riding going on out here. I am sure it exists though, as there are occasionally rickety guerilla-trailbuilder type monstrosities that occasionally show up at places like Swanson Park. Stuff that looks like it was hastily put together, and not very safe.
