I am talking with a friend on the phone, he asks me why I have not been out to Whistler much this year. I tell him to go to www.knollybikes.com to see what I am waiting for. I get a message back that my frame is currently being welded.....

Nice pic, I assume that is a pic of one of the production frames?

Looks like Noel has the welding jigs done. Maybe I should start looking to book a weekend at Whistler before the Bike Park closes.

Lets just get the frames, pick up a keg, head to Whistler, grab accomodation when we get there, build said frames and hit the trails the next morning. Hell with a test ride. That is what A-line is for......

We had better get the assembly done before making too much headway on the keg. Otherwise the test ride down a-line may not go too well; but it is the end of the seaon so there is plenty of time to heal up for next year.

You have no idea how anxious I am to be able to post pics of my bike.

Right now all I have to photograph is a set of mavic 729 rims laced to hugi FR hubs, a set of avid flak jacket gear cables, and some headset spacers. Knolly bikes is holding all the rest ransom until I have been good and ate all my vegetables, then as a reward I will get my bike ;)

Ya, the website is down - gonna put up a new picture every few days as we get ready to launch the new site for the beginning of October.

Whistler is going to be very tight - the last day is October 10th, and it's going to be right around when the frames are done.

Yes, we have started welding (though not by any means done, though there is significantly less man hours than the CNC machining), but there are still several manufacturing stages afterwards, including heat treating, painting, frame finishing (i.e. CNC'ing the head tubes) and then frame assembly.

Also, Interbike is the same week (Oct 4-8) which means that I won't be around that week - I'm actually gone form the 3rd until the 10th. I'm hoping to pass the ball over to a couple of friends to see what can get done in that week. I'd LOVE to hit the last weekend of Whistler, but it's going to be VERY, very close. If we miss it, I think that we'll just have to get as many pickups as possible and go hit Seymour for the next weekend!

Sorry not to be the bearer of bad news, but as usual, I'm trying to be completely honest and give you guys some insite into what is happening schedule wise.

I'm not a bad mechanic, I could lend a hand Oct. 2nd or 3rd if that would make a difference. ANdy might be able to help out as well.

Oh No.

Not a problem that we might not make Whistler, that I can live with. If the big "first ride" bash is held on the weekend of Oct 16 I am not going to be able to play as I have a kart race in Seattle that weekend. And to make matters worse my pit crew (Bryan) will probably go riding on his new bike instead of helping me at the track!

Now I have to reconsider what hobby I value more.

Have a blast at Interbike, let me know if you need someone to come down to Vegas to help out........... :D :D :D :D :D

100% fun. I'm gonna check out the Knollybikes facility and the frames, and do some -- no, LOTS OF -- riding. XC and FR bikes coming along, so is the dog. I'm waiting for post-Interbike so Noel will be there.

It might, but it will really depend where we are in the manufacturing. Most of the remaining stuff is pretty quick to do, but it still takes time. I.e. the heat treating takes 3 or 4 days, then the frames have to go back to the welder and have the cable guides soldered on, then off to painting for a few days, then back to the machine shop to have the headtubes machined, then QC'd then assembly...

So, each of those steps doesn't take a huge amount of time, but they all have to happen and someone has to run around with the frames.

Just got back from the welders - the chainstays and seatstays are welded up and will be sent out to heat-treating next week!

So, I guess the answer is yes, you could help, but in all honesty, it's the kind of help that really requires someone just running around during the week every few days. The actual frame assembly can probably be done in a day with a few hands, so if you want to come up for that, you're more than welcome.

Gonzo: Ha ha - facility! That's funny! Think several small, high end contract manufacturers and a home office - that's where we're at now... However, when you come up definitely get in touch with me and I'll make sure that you have a chance to check out the frames in person and go for a spin!

I have to come up there to pick it up anyway so it would not be a problem to help put them together. It would need to be during the weekend though.
